i know that mustangs are known for speed and stuff but i been researching and all i hear about are wrx's like is it expensive to build a <9sec cause it looks like 10 sec or better wrxs are pretty common .... even down in tha 8's
How about you just simply drive them both and get the one you like ? Obviously this site will know more about the stang than the wrx , so if you go with the stang and you want to make it faster , just ask Even if you get the wrx , hang around here and make some friends anyhow . ( A gearhead is a gearhead no-matter what he drives )

thoughts anyone?
It's much more expensive to make a 10 sec sti than a 10 second stang.
Just look at parts in general for sti's. For a 2005, you will already pay more at the dealer for a new sti than a GT.
Dollar for dollar, no car is a better value for speed.

well ya duh if i would want a modded stang over an STI
just personaly i think a stock STI is alot more fun than a stock GT
but hey thats my opinion once again

if you buy the wrx then you should invest in a poster of mustang tail lights thats what you will be seeing not being rude just the truth i have raced them on street tires and smoked them. go american made#1
yea if you come on a mustang site and ask if you should get a subaru wrx or a mustang what do you think everyones gonna say?
last subaru wrx i seen was in my rearview mirror and my 91 gt was basically stock. Who makes those subarus anyway the japs. Maybe you should be bombed to for wanting to buy a non american car. See thats whats wrong with this country people like you that wanna buy some japan made bs. Oh wow you can get 400,000 miles out a honda, maybe cause they dont make enuff torque to break to toothpick. But you could probably beat on a mustang for 200,000 or so if you take care of it and keep up on it. And every subaru wrx will be in your rearview.
It depends on what you want! The WRX STI is a killer car and will smoke a new GT stock VS stock. Its cheaper to build a WRX until you get around 375-400hp after that it gets pricey. The mustang will not hold its resale value as well as the WRX but will be much cheaper to build. If you want a stock car that will hang with most and is killer on a road corse then go with a WRX they are also easier to drive on in autocross because of the AWD. Personaly I would go with a EVO before a WRX simlply because they handle so much better but are slower in the 1/4. With anything you buy its a give and take. One may have this and the other has that its a toss up. Remember the mustang will also be cheaper to build.
IMO just my thoughts
I actually raced a wrx this past Friday night...THat car was pretty fast...But not fast enough......
I've beaten 1 in my six.
Unless you're willing to do 5,000-6,000 clutch drops, it's really not that fast. Drive 'em both!
Also, gotta add the butt head in the S-10 Extreme (he was tougher, but he didn't have to do a 6,000 RPM drop, either . . .) Some dude in a DSM lost today, trying to beat me to a merge from a stoplight. I didn't know he was racing, and I still beat the crap outta' him . ..
Also beat a 96-8 mustang six. Nice custom work though .. .

Those WRX's are too expensive....for an STI you spend what $30,000? I've spent about 15,000 bucks on mine INCLUDING buying the car. That's half; and STIs are a flickering dot in my rear view.

Im not gunna lie, I ride around A LOT in an sti, and drive it now and then, and even though I dont tell my buddy who owns it, that SOB'll set your ass back in the seat pretty good. Not only is it hella fast in any aspect but it's also a joy to drive. If i had the $, I would go with the STI just for the fact that there are so few of them as compared to mustangs.

anybody who has an STI has a FAST STI.
but not everybody who has a mustang has a fast mustang.
the STI is a nice car, until you turn 25... then you realize that it was made for little kids.
get a man's car. go with the stang. youll spend less, and you wont fall victim to the rice fad. they all look the same, they all sound the same, and in my opinion are all overpriced hunks of plastic. AWD is great, and subaru makes a great product, but american muscle is where it all started.

yeah, stock wrx arent really fast. i raced my friends slightly modded 2002 (turbo timer, exhaust ect) with my 88 (rip) with heads, cam, intake mustang and beat him. not by much but still won. if u go import, go sti, but be prepared to drop like 30gs. if i had that cash, id find an stock 03 to 04 cobra for like mid 20s and drop the other 10gs on blower swap, tune and run 10s. but all wheel drive is fun, exspecially in the snow.
