First off take those weenie ass tires off it and get some decent meats. Which wheels do you have? Regardless of which wheels, you should able to fit 235s or 245s on that baby. What was you 60' or just post all the data from the slip if you can. If your spinning through the first 3 gears then you have a good amount of power, you just need to get it to the ground. Maybe try to feather the throttle a little when you get some widder treads under the rear. Good luck!

Go and get yourself a couple of used phone dialers 15 in from the salvage yard. Install some ET drag slicks. Launch at 4,000 to 4,500 rpm. You won't spin the tires. Your ET will drop .5 to .8 of a second. guaranteed!
Oh , and your 60ft times will drop to 1.8sec
Street tires suck at drag racing.

Yea, some improvement can be had with your 60'. On 275/40/17s Fuzion ZRI I pulled a 2.07 60'. I agree about getting some stock 10 hole wheels and some ET streets or some other good drag radial. If you can get it to hook you should be able to get into the 13s. I think next weekend when I go to the track I'm gonna drop the rear pressure down to 20-25 psi and work on my launch and see if I can pull a 1.9 60' on my street tires. Good luck to you.

Take anything out of your car you do not need....

3 general rules of dragracing.

1. Horsepower--You gotta have something to get you there.
2. Traction--It does not matter how many horsies you have if it is going up in rubber smoke..
3. Weight...Alot of people forget about this when first starting out..A thin man runs alot faster than a fat one if they both had the same legs...

There are too many variables to consider when talking about the distrib...I will almost guarantee a 1/2 second better 1/4 mile time from street radials to race slicks...Your sixty foot will also drop to a 1.8ish from a 2.4 also...

I'm certainly not the foremost expert on racing, but I very much agree with the other guys in weight savings and good tires. That is probably one of the biggest misconceptions people make about trying to go faster - first thing they do is go under the hood. This is not always the answer! Sometimes making better use of the power you already have will benefit you the most (flywheel, driveline, tires, lighter wheels, pullys, etc.)

Perfect example (although this is regarding driver ability more than power/weight):

I pulled into the Atco staging lanes and was up for my run pretty quickly, got a .223 light and ran a 14.036. Very happy with my/my cars performance. I mean I'm running street tires; and didn't hook to good in first, but had a 2.1 60'. My next run racked a very pleasing .136 light, and a 2.0 60 but some reason a 14.150 was in order for the night. Ran around the same next two runs, couldn't hook after a while, track could've been prepped a hair better in my opinion. Yes slicks will be in soon, need new rims; so I have some donors now. So my 14.0 was the best so far, on BFG G-Force tires. Next week we will go for some high/mid 13s. Remember I started at a 15 flat and got it down to 14, so I'm seeing how driver error is a HUGE factor. First trap speed was a 97.8 3 weeks ago, now I'm running 102.6. So I'm getting more all around. so here we go! Safe racing pals

i need some help launching out of the hole. should i go from an idle or should i bring it up to a higher rev? i just found my old tires that i have on my other pair of rims and they are 225/60/15's i put them on and my launch was MUCH BETTER i have 205/55/16's and they would spin first and second gear when i pushed her. With the new tires i hear them spin just a little bit in 1st gear but it was a very big diff so i hope i can take of half a second. BUTTT their is one problem i keep lighting up the tires in parking lots and going side ways and my thread is goin down!! so i still have to work on that . so wut rev should i launch out of the hole??
