Default 429 help

ive allways wanted toget my 1965 mustang running around 220mph on a 1/4 mile. i have a 429cj block that i have all torn down and want to put the most possible hp in it. so i can 220mph on the 1/4 mile. so i need some suggestion on the top of the line parts. i have only 3 years to build it. so i need some serious part upgrades. help me out on parts.

to go 220 in a 1/4 mile you need a suitable chassis first .a lot of motor a big power adder . that car could cost you over a hundread thousand dollors easly to build.you should talk to someone who has ran that fast before they have balls a 10 sec car is fast and 220mph in a 1/4 is sick fast. good luck hope to see it run someday.

do you know how much horsepower it will take to get you that fast? well if not here it is. depending on the weight of the vehicle, i figured it as 3,000lbs, you are going to have to make almost 3,000 hp. if you want to use the block you have you need to take it to atleast 514. custom made crank, cam, twin turbo, you are going to easily spend 50,000 to 75,000 dollars just on the motor. unless you have an almost unlimited supply of funds for this project i don't see anyway of getting those nubers in three years. shoot for the 1,000 to 1,500 horsepower range first. you can run in the 7-8 sec range

220 is MEAN car dude! You're probably talking about a low-mid 6 for that kind of speed!

I know a guy with a '68 running a 460 that runs a high-8 on the motor, and about 8-flat with a bottle.

There's also some serious tranny/suspension work needed to handle that kind of power and get it down... but good luck man! I was about 10' from the start line & watched a '63 vette do 6.66 at 210 I believe... it was a sight to behold
