Default Concerns about trunk mounted battery

I want to mount my battery in my trunk (hatchback). I understand that to be NHRA legal it has to have a cut-off switch on the back of the car. Does this mean if I am in traffic someone can walk up behind my car and shut it down? If so is there any way around this?

Yes they can, and I'm sure someone will.

Space your license plate out and put your switch behind it. When your at the track just remove the plate

thats hilarious! your cruising one second and the next some kid walks up and flips a switch you mounted as a cut off. anyway, i was thinking of mounting my battery in my trunk too, but dont want to worry about that cut off switch B.S. i want to be able to run at the track soon and dont want to worry about that so im gonna have to leave 'er where she is. is this true for most tracks? im going to union grove in WI.

Smak Daddy I think the guys at Race City will want you to install a firewall between the battery and the pass.compartment. Not sure, but thought I 'd let you know.
The spacing of the license plate is a great idea too.

A friend has this setup & he has the license plate cover the fits between the taillight blackouts.. have to pop the cover off to get to it... I guess this only works on the 87-93's tho..

Yep, have to have the cutoff and a firewall to be legal. I've only had someone mess with my switch once and that was some friends playing around. I jumped on them so hard when they did it that I guarantee they'll never do it again.

Do you still need the firewall if you use a box like Moroso's? It is sealed and then vented to the outside with a hose.

Nope, don't need the firewall then.

Default Websites????

Does anyone have a website or personal site that details the install process. I am actually going to attempt this battery relocation, this weekend. Any info can and would be very helpful.
