Default Noob here - Lebanon Valley in NY - Open track Wednesdays?

Hello, all - I am looking to take my 2013 V6 Perf Pkg to the track. Looking at the Lebanon Valley website they are open every Wednesday for folks like me (beginners with street cars).

Good idea to call first to make sure they are running that nite?

Wondering how crowded it gets and how many passes I can expect to make.

I have been reading the launch threads as well as the overall drag racing tips already. Great site!

Thank you.

Joe

Your going to have a blast! The first time out don't beat yourself up over perfect launches and good reaction times. Get out there and just try to figure out a method to the madness... You will probably be like me and try to do everything you read online then find yourself trying to think about all that when it comes time to race...

Just get in the grove brother...

street cars start to roll..... start the car and turn off traction control rite away so you don't have to think about it. Sport mode too if your an auto.

Now you do nothing till the burnout.

Stay out of the water. Drop into 1st, do your break stand and a short burnout if on street tires.
(You already have traction control off so all you have to do is the burnout)

Now stop. Take your time to look over things. No one is going to rush you when your lining up and you shouldn't rush yourself.

Once you sure your ready then stage. If you followed the steps you should be doing allot of nothing after the burnout meaning there is nothing to do but launch that sucker.

First few times just get that all down. You will get into your own ritual before you know it... Once you get the staging down then you should start playing with good reaction time and launch RPM.

Know your car, know your race.

Lebanon Valley is the track that I usually go to. I only get to go a few times each year, but the staff is outstanding. I usually go on Saturday's and they have always been very good at dealing with newbies. Just listen to what they tell you and they will get you down the track and help you out. They prep the track well and they go above and beyond to make sure the track is in good shape.

I'm currently on my 9th Mustang (8 V8's and 1 V6). Of those, I raced 6 of them at Lebanon Valley (mostly Test/Tune) over the years.

The V6 was an 11 AT base model with 2.73's and the OEM 215/65 tires. 100% bone stock, I ran back to back 14.2's @ 98-99mph on a 65 degree day. With just a Hypertech tune and nothing else, back to back 14.0's.

It was very easy to drag, all I did was power brake the trans and then go full throttle at the green.

Good luck!
