Default auto w/ trans brake vs. manual

im gonna start drag racing my 93 mustang . it will be equiped with a 302 block to go in it. im deciding what to buy in the way of transmissions. my engine is probably pushing 600 hp . what should i go with a 4 sp manual or put a trans brake in my c4? what do you think i should go with?

Default C-4

Hey Man, buy a good C-4 with a brake, and a good convertor, and a bigger tranny cooler. You will save yourself a lot of time and money instead of fixing the manual setup when you break it. I run a Powerglide w/ a brake in my 408 Capri, and I have at least 80 runs on it, never a failure. Put it on the brake, rev it to 4600, drop the button and hold on! 10:50 @ 130 time and time again. It really depends on what the car is mostly goingto be used for. some street and more strip or vise versa. You must be using a power adder to get 600hp and you better not be using the stock block as that will be just a time bomb waiting to explode. The c4 w/ a brake will be more consistant than a manual. But you will have more fun on the street with a manual, that is why I ask what it will be used for. You will want a g-force trans if your going with a manual as they are about the toughest t-5. Or you could go with a tremec tko 600 as that will hold the power your looking to make, but it will be 50lbs heavier than the t-5. So the choice is yours. Tom
