hey everyone i have a 90 gt 5 speed with some bolt ons and stock 2.73 gears and i took my car to the strip a month ago and by no means am i a drag racer and i would like some info. First of my 60 ft was so bad it didn't even register on my slip, what is the slowest 60ft before it stops registering (EXP. 3.5, 60ft). Also my 1/4 trap speed was 96.5 mph and i was getting a 14.9, what should my 1/4 mile be with that trap speed with a ok 60ft like a 2.0 or 2.2. Thanks for the help.

The 2.73's are killing your 60 ft. I would go with some 3.73's or 4.10's , some aftermarker Upper and lower LCA's and some M.T. ET drags , you would see and feel a big difference , and you could launch at higher RPM's with the right air pressure .

so i should be in the low 14 right now with my trap speed right. here are my mods i should have listed them before, 3400 pounds with me in it, 5 speed, Performer upper and lower, 70mm tb/egr, C&L 76mm, factory five u/l control arms, torque box reinforcments bbk unequal headers, off road x pipe, american thunder cat back, and 17 cobra r's with 275/40/17 out back with fuel at 38 psi and timing a 10 degrees, and the 2.73.
When I say bolt ons , I mean anything besides heads, nitrous, turbos, superchargers. You know , the stuff everybody does at first. Basically what you're doing to your car. When I was at the track this past summer there was a guy there with a 91GT mustang totally stock. He was running mid 14's maybe even lower.
Here are my bolt ons,( I think half of them really don't do a thing after seeing that stock Mustang run those numbers). I think they really work with a dyno tune and a chip. Honestly, my best run was a 14.2 this past summer. And the time slip is for real. My average times were 14.3 to 14.5. Check out the post in drag racing forums, can't break 15 seconds. That was me!!! What are you shifting at? That will make a big difference. Did you advance your timing? That also makes a difference. You should be in the mid-14's. Do you have a manual or automatic transmission? Auto will be slower. High 14's.

Sounds like its definitely gears next. Best bang for the buck every time - esp. for et's.
You might also consider picking up some old wheels to run drag radials or slicks. Nothing beats traction to help you launch.
Finally, you might review your weight (if you have a huge stereo and that spare tire and jack, for instance). Shaving weight helps everything work better. A related issue is weight distribution. Switching the battery (get a REAL kit with solid hardware, not some bozo plastic box) location to the passenger side of the trunk helps.
After that there are springs, shocks, and finally...
Practice. Drivers make a big difference, particularly with manual shifting and 60 foot times.

My old car had 298k miles with long tubes, h pipe, 373's, poly bushings in stock uca & lca's on 26x10.5 slick went 13.76 @ 98.6. so get the gears it will help plenty.
