Default engine support strap

i am reading through the ihra rule book and under engine straps it says it has to be made out of steel plate or aircraft cable(no chains accepted) i just bought mycar a couple weeks ago and it has a chain on the motor. since a chain is not legal do i run the aircraft cable like the chain was and where do you buy aircraft cable. i am just starting this dragracing thing and trying to learn how to do it right. i would hate to drag my car halfway across the state and get denied by tech

I would think if your engine mounts are in good shape an engine strap wouldn't be needed. If you go with the cable, you could get it at a hardware store, they have different sizes. Or if you have a location that deals with cranes or construction, you can get it there, I've done that for my brother's '69 396 Chevy truck.

Default no where near the 9's

my car is not that fast yet. it runs7.70@92 1/8. i am just getting started in drag racing however this car is plenty fast for now. 1.68 60'. things are starting to slow down for me. i bought a 2002 lightning last year and raced a few times in it and decided not to tear it up so i saved a little cash and bought an85 gt with a 306in it.it is only a race car no interior, slicks, skinnies, cage and one seat. a friend of mine hauled his car to a different track than he usually raced at and tech failed him for rubber hose off carb, and his motor wasnt tied down. they told him the track was an ihra sanctioned track and he could not run. i have been out twice in my car now at 2 different tracks and the only thing that was looked at was the tag i my harness.
