the competition got a 13.62 with a 8.762 1/8th
i ran a 10.01 before any of my mods, well k&n filter charger but is that really a mod? sliped a lil, but i dont know if i could have ran a 9 if i got good traction

Might not be as bad as you think. That slip should be worth a high 13 or low 14 quarter mile time. You get those 60's down a little and keep practicing you might be pleasantly surprised when you run a 1/4 track.

Okay, I did 4 runs at the local eighth mile track and it wasn't good. My first one was my best and it got worse from there. Street tires and lack of experience killed me. Plus I had no idea how challenging it was to acheive a good time. You can have a really fast car, but with street tires and no drag strip driving knowledge, you can really spoil your cars machoism. LOL. On the first run I wasn't prepared. My first mistake was that I got staged last. Secondly, I wasn't fully aware of how quick the lights would go so it caught me off guard. I left basically by mashing the gas, spinning through first and I caught second, then third and it was over. I was amped. It was an adrenaline rush out the asshole.
And it just gets worse. LOL. A couple of my buddies with nitrous ( I hate it!) and drag radials etc.were lookin at my time slips sayin, "man, with that mile per hour you should be around a 8.7-8.8 easily" then they went on to say, "get some drag radials and you definately will se that." I have a 3.27 gear and my car really starts pulling hard around 3500 in third, I only got to 2400 in third before it was over. I didn't have the lowering springs at that time and my car now squats down better at takeoff, atleast on the street. Well, I plan on getting my 1.7rr's put on during Christmas break along with Steeda upper and lower rear control arms, so hope fully I can practice and manage some better times. Later.

Ohh, on the first run I was deep staged and the second I was not. I wasn't real consistent with my shift points due t trying new things to hopefully figure where I need to shift whill drag racing. Next time I go I will shift at a certain rpm every time. Thanks for any help/comments.

my 2001 GT 5speed with K&N Filter, and mac catback runs 8.99 and 9.0 @77 and 78mph all day in the heat of the summer in the1/8th with short times from 2.0 to 2.20 depending on track conditions. Several times me and a buddy went to our local 1/8th on street night and were rewarded with no track prep and no cars with slicks laying down some good rubber to use. So driving experience and track conditions play a huge role in your times, remember.
my 87 coupe runs 6.36@ 108 in 1/8th

my best 1/8 mile pass has been 2 8.92's @ something like 79.6 mph. I think the accurate trap speed is in my sig. i've gotten 2 1.99 60' times on my street tires, but the 8.92's had a ~2.01/2.03 60' time.

1,200 miles on the motor, still tuning!!!
My 60ft. times are what are killing me. I had a 2.6 on one of them. I just truthfully don't know how to drive at the track. I also had a 200lb. guy with me on every run trying to give me pointers when all he really did was make me even more nervous and he added un-needed weight to my car. I need to get the 60ft. times to around 2.0-2.1 and I will have 8.7s, but in the quarter mile I think my car will do considerably better because of the gear I have. 13.4-13.6 consistent if good driving is exhibited. LOL
