Question Torque VS. HP - Times

If you had two identical cars and one had 260 RWHP and 284 lb-ft torque, and the other had the same torque, but had 290 RWHP, would the car with more horesepower be quicker in a quarter mile, or is torque the deciding factor here?

Yes, HP = speed and the second 1/8th mile, Torque = the first 1/8th mile. just a rule of thumb. The car with the more HP and same torque will out run it on the top end in theory.

If track weight between the 2 cars is equal and assuming they both get traction, the car with more HP will be faster if they are making the same torque.

But there are way too many other factors, I've beaten cars that have had both more HP and torque, pulled faster cars on the bottom and on the top.

I know this isn't the scientific definition of horsepower, but its the one I like best:

Horsepower is the ability of a engine to gain rpm's. The faster a engine can gain rpm, the quicker it will be.

Horsepower = RPM*Torque / 5252

So the longer you make torque combined with higher it'll rev, the more power you make.

Default launch RPM for automatic

I want to go to the track in a couple weeks and try it out, with my mods listed below what would be a good launch RPM to try
my car is an automatic I'm guessing about 335 to 345 hp (never dyno tuned it yet)

HP = sustained speed.
