Default stop bushing and advance springs

I changed the stock advance springs and the original stop bushing in my MSD distributer, the motor seemed as if it was at the rev limit at around 5900rpms and just felt like the engine wanted to give more.
Will this change to the distributer help me get some more rpms out of the motor?

These changes affect performance up to about 4000rpm depending on the stop used.
I would suspect an air-flow problem. Are heads ported? Maybe try a holley DP carb.

thanks, for that my outlook was totally wrong. I was thinking that I would actually gain rpms from the changes. My heads are not ported but I'm running a Pro form carb and it's a double pumper.
I ran a 12.90 at 104 mph and people around me are saying that's a respectable time for the set up I have, but I just want more I guess.

I looked up the flow numbers for your heads & found 180-200cfm depending on the valve diameters. Porting would help. You really need about 225-250 @ .600 lift.
Also what is your fuel system capacity. Line size should be 3/8" minimum. A deadhead system will need a 90+ gph pump. If you have a return line with regulator a 70gph pump should do.

I'm running 3/8 braided fuel line with a holley blue fuel pump, I don't have a return line. I feel as if my regulator is to small, if I run more than 4 pounds of fuel pressure the guage goes hay wire and reads anywhere from 6 to 12 pounds of fuel pressure. I have no port work, do you think a simple gasket port will help any?

I would add a 3/8" return fuel line. It should help stablize the pressure.
It sounds like the motor is running out of fuel. I don't know squat about Pro Form carbs, but I would have a good dyno shop that really knows Pro Form stuf do your carb setup and tune. It's a couple of hundred, but worth it IMO.

Jet sizing and A/F ratio are critical for top performance.
I would also add O2 sensors and a meter so you keep an eye on the tune better.
