Default 2001 mustang Gt roughly 270 rwhp what kinda times to expect

What is a good time for a 2001 GT with about 270 rwhp in the 1/4 mile
I see all kinds of #'s... Last time at the track I saw a couple Mustangs same body Gt's running high 13's Didn't get a chance to talk with them to see what they had done to their cars. Just wondering what I should expect to be at, and any pointers would greatly appreciated. thanks

Times would vary due to driver, track conditions, tire slippage, etc. I think you should be in the low 14s maybe 13.90 best. Let us know after you stretch her legs. For pointers is your car an auto or manual?

I've seen virtually stock 99-04 GT's hit low 13's but they were being ultra aggressive in their driving, had better rear suspension, adjustable shocks and struts, and slicks. Everyone gets hung up on the horsepower number but reality is to run 13s takes 270-280 hp. 12's taked 330 hp and 11's takes only 400. It's getting the power to the ground that counts.
Get some slicks, adjustable shocks and struts, better control arms, and learn how to drag the car. Most of all, get the tranny set up properly which means for a stick, get a suitable clutch, aluminum flywheel, shifter and driveshaft. Automatics need a shift kit/valve body, higher stall converter, rebuilt with high performance clutches and bands.

Ask me why I ran "only" a 13.54.

i agree 100% horsepower numbers are fun to talk about with your buddies but e.t. is what really counts. a lot of times at the track bigger horsepower doesnt win.

I agree that hp isn't everything I have seen some high hp cars with high numbers because of suspension. I do have adjustable KYB AGX shocks on the car. So is a little stiffer better than less or is i just a matter of playing with the settings to find whats best? Oh by the way my car is a five speed, stock gears and clutch street radials , I have been practicing launches and shifting around 5200 rpms or so basicly just before she stops pulling hard . How much does the front suspension effect your times. Should those be adjusted also or set to stock firmness.. Thanks Guys
