Default First run down the 1/4 mile

Well finally got to the strip with my Incon twins.
Here is the story, but first a little about the car.
She is a 91 5.0 (bone stock) LX with 114k, Incon Twin Turbo Intercooled 8lbs boost, Viper 6spd with 4:10 gears (thats like 3:55 with a T5) 2.5" exhaust W/ very large Cats. and 12" glass packs, full interior A/C and all, Maximum sub frame connecters with Lakewood lift bars other than that a stock suspension.

Well my son and I (Jesse B.) bolted up some 28 x 9.0 x 15 ET drags (way to tall for my gearing) and loaded her on a trailer. 3 hours later we were at Famoso Raceway near Bakersfield CA. We spent an hour in tech. with some issues but was finally cleared for take off.

The first three runs were spent trying to find out what rpm to launch at.
1) 4500rpm, hit hard, bogged heavily (too tall a tire), 1.02 lite, 1.92 60ft time shut off half track, 14.254 @ 75.12mph
2)5000rpm, same as run #1, 1.004 lite, 2.016 60ft, full run 13.067 @ 103.9mph.
3) 5500rpm, hit hard, left pretty good I thought, 1.117 lite, 2.013 60ft, full run, 13.141 @ 107.92

Well I was getting pretty fed-up with my reaction times and my E/T I had time for one more run. It is now or never.

Finale run, rolled into the water box, short burn-out to heat and clean the Huge slicks, a little hop to see if there is bite, and staged. First yellow, on the rev-limiter (6000rpm) second yellow, dropped the clutch. She bite hard, up came the front end, down went the rear and away we went. 5500rpm grabbed second (feels real good) 5500rpm nailed third (pulled hard) 5500rpm forth. We rolled through the traps at 5000rpm in forth. Time: .541 lite (excellent) 1.815 60ft, full run, 12.79 @ 108.23mph.

Well thats my story and I'm sticking to it. Anyway not too bad for a Calif. emission legal daily driver that gets 27mpg.

The 24th we are heading back with 10lbs boost 26.0 x 8.5 stickies and a better exhaust no cats. I would like to see low 12's maybe into the 11's. Come on out and see us!

Tony B.

Default Cool...we'll be there, too!

That's impressive folks, if you consider 2 things:

1) FIRST TIMER with too tall a slick &

2) Pretty much OEM engine/suspension! I can't wait to see this car go 11's.

I only wish I could get the convertible (GT40P/Cobra, complete exhaust, 9lb Powerdyne, etc.) on track, but still no roll cage etc. But I'll be there with the '00 GT! Let's see if I can get her in the 13's!

:3d: Bit by the drag-on-fly bug eh? My first launch with my first car :
6000 rpms, last yellow light, dump the cluth. Now I see the ceiling. No body warned me! 1.75 60 ft. This is with no power adder. Lots of fun.
Now I am building a rail. Still have a 96 GT for a mid-life crisis and a little
fun. Stay in touch.
