Default Trac Lock Concern...

This could be perfectly normal, but it personally concerns me.

When I'm lighting up my ET streets at the track, one of my wheels spins, and than the second one kicks in a second or two later. The result is my @$$ end jumping to one side, and than catching.

Is this bad?

(PS, tire pressure is equal. I'm sure)

Well it does'nt sound good!

You may just need to replace your clutches in the rear. What year Mustang and have they ever been replaced?

95 GT with 72000 miles. I seriously doubt they've ever been replaced.

I would start there. The only clutch packs I thrust are factory Ford's

Is it a difficult procedure?

It's not that bad. I have had many Ford techs tell me 90% of the time, using Ford clutches, that you could just replace them. With other brands I would check for clearances.

Most shop manuals have a good procedure for checking clearance. I personally always check no matter what brand.

The other day when i was doing a burn out at the track my friend noticed the same thing. He told me that for a second only one tire was spinning but a half second later the other started in. I have no idea if its bad or normal.

Sorry

Adam

After I put mine in I noticed the same thing but was told that it was normal cuz only one tire will be driven and when it slipps the our kicks in...... Don't sound right to me but that is what I was told. Also when I do burn outs with the brake my rear end bounces and shakes up and down.

well when i do my burn outs my back end is on the ground. No bumps and shakes. But my wheel spin alot, even when not racing. I think i need new rear suspension and control arms.

Ok..correct me if I'm wrong...and I know everyone will . The trac lok is not posi traction as we know from years gone past. The stock trac lok is a "limited slip" which mean that there really is only one tire spinning until it over powers the clutchs in the differential. This is why at the track when you start to heat up the slicks, one tire spins and then a half second...which isn't that long, the other wheel starts to spin. Check out the tire tracks of a stang with a good stock differential. the right wheel starts the patch then the left not long after. So, unless you have changed from the stock differential and the left wheel doesn't spin you should have nothing to worry about. JMO
