I ran a 14.2 @ pomona. I have edel performer heads mainfold. ecam, 24lbrs, exhaust, 5speed 3.55, radials, prom75.
I thought i could get into the 13s. So then i added a 155lph fuel pump...and now my times are slower 14.7s. Whats that about. Someone suggested a regulator. I bought one and set it at 41 w/ vacuum. No difference yet. Any suggestions??
What are cars with similar setups runnin on street tires?
Re: 14.2@104.5>>added fuel pump and now i'm slower??
For the most part a fuel pump is either working or it isn't. Fuel pumps don't add or subtract power. I would suggest that something else has caused the slow down.
If you are still concerned about it, install a fuel pressure guage.
Sometimes when you disturb the fuel system, debree can get in the fuel system and possibly block/reduce efficency of a fuel injector.
Thats a little weird that it slowed down; obviously driving styles make or break E.T> times in the quarter, but going from low to high 14's from a fuel pump?
I helped rebuild my friends 5.0 and he put mostly edlebrock stuff, but when we installed the fuel pump, it was definitely a must for a fuel regulator. You will get much better performance for the 24# injectors and the heads with a more pressure. The stock regulator only allows so much, thus the need for a regulator that gives more psi. Get yourself a regulator and punch the pressure up to the specs of 24#ers;I believe its low to mid 40psi. good luck
Aftermarket fuel regulators are some times used the wrong way. Allot of people use them to cheat the injectors so they don't have to go to bigger injectors (i.e. boost the pressure higher then 40psi). The right way to do this is to get the bigger injectors. Then with the higher flow of the bigger injectors you may or may not need a aftermarket fuel regulator. The bigger injectors do not need any higher fuel pressure then 40psi, well maybe in boosted cars when the boost comes up.
Now another reason, and I feel the most important, for a aftermaket regulator is consistency. Most (and I mean most) aftermarket regulators keep a more consistent fuel pressure than stock ones. This is very important.
So far Kirban regulators I find to be the best. I would like to know how Aeromotive regulators are? Anyone?
if you had 40 psi with the vac line on it only gets higher the more you lose vac like when you standin on it. i always set mine with the line off your probaly near 48 psi and id say its runin a little rich thats why it slowed down......but your speed is good!

Is your car an auto? WHat was the wether, track conditions. What was your 60 foot compared to last time. Post your time slip. My 95 GT, 5-speed, stock cam with edelbrock heads and a GT-40 upper/lower..on drag radials, runs 13.2'@105 on a great day. Usually 13.4@102. No powewrshifting, but a hard launch, I run a 1.8 60ft. Hope we can help you.
