Default Titling/Licensing Laws of IN

Anybody familiar with the laws of having a vehicle titled in Indiana? I can't hardly believe what I have to go through to get a "rebuild" title for a '70 Mach 1. I bought the car out of Ohio with a "salvage" title and I'm not crazy about what the local license branch is telling me.

I'm supposed to take a raft of pictures of the car as it sits, keep full record of every part used in the rebuild of the car, take another raft of pictures of the car when finished, have a VIN check done by law enforcement (that's no problem), and then present all this stuff to the branch to apply for a title. SHEEZ!!

Can this be true? Our local branch has been known to dispense incorrect information on occasion so I thought I'd ask....

Check with the Indiana State Police. I understand the out of state title check by law enforcement espcially if the car had a title in Ohio. But the rest does not make a whole lot of sense to me.

Default Don't think so..

I don't think that is totally correct. I know the out of state title could be a problem. You said it was a salvage title. Check with the state police. I have neighbor that brought a 1970 VW from Tenn, and all he had to do to get a IN title was have a police officer check the car out, and sign the form the BMV gave him.
