Hi,
I just moved from Altanta to Sweden in Europe, so I went thru everything from handling logistics, all the paperwork, and also the changes necessary to get the car thru the inspection. The swedes are quite strict. However, the rules are a bit different depending if you import it as a household goods in connection to a move or if you import one when being a European (in this case swedish). For straight imports, you have to change the tail lights so it blinks amber (orange yellow), you have to put side blinkers on (amber), you have to change the driving lights to white, and you have to put your VIN no. on the chassis, more specifically on the rounded piece of metal just in front of the battery where the suspension is. You can get most of the stuff on-line pretty easily and at a reasonable price if you buy them from a US vendor. The only headache is the tail lights. After searching for weeks, I finally found a car dealership in Stockholm who sells the tail lights, but they are very unfriendly, they don't deliver on time, and they are not very helpfull and very rude (Grufman bil in Stockholm w
ww.Grufman.se). And watch out when talking to them. They think of a phone conversation as an order. They are like the telemarketing pirahas from the US. I ordered a set of tail lights from them, and they promised to deliver them within 4 weeks. I had to go to the inspection in 6-7 weeks, so I told them so, and were told "no problem at all". When 4 weeks were gone, they haven't shown up, so I called them 3-4 times over the next weeks. They told me a lot of good stories that they would get them shortly with a week, when this didn't hold true, they told me that the had missed their delivery but they would for sure show up within a week or less, and so the stories went on. I then told them to call and talk to me when they did get them, and before they sent anything on to me because of the deadline I had. I did not get them so I had to make alternative arrangements. But then 2-3 weeks later, I got a note from the local post office that they had a package for me. i didn't believe my eyes and since I didn't need them I never went to pick them up. Then I got an invoice for a restocking fee of $200 (total price is $600 which is very expensive compared to prices in the US for tail light glass) and they didn't care that I've told them - when I ordered them - about when I needed them and that I didn't want the lights if they couldn't deliver on time. And now they are pushing me with lawyers to get me to pay the restocking fee. So I am not a happy camper, and if I were not wiser, then I would drive up there and start a fight. So be careful if you use them.
Hope this was helpfull
