Hey everybody, I'm going to be spending about a month in London this summer and was wondering if anyone could tell me of some fun stuff to do while i'm there? I like the touristy kinds of things but I'm really looking for something that only locals would know about, just so that I can get the true British experience! I am also going to get the chance to travel outside the UK while I am there as well and ideas for cheap travel would be great! Thanks a lot!

I have six dead bolt locks on my front door. when i leave the house i lock every other one, that way no matter how much someone picks them, they are always locking three.
Most important thing is to pretty much double the amount you have budgeted, the $dollar is very weak against the British Pound. You can usually use Euros in the UK as well, but you're still gonna take a hit due to the exchange rate. Plus, London is extremely expensive on pretty much everything anyway.
If you're gonna travel, the cheapest/most scenic way is to purchase a Euro Rail pass & travel by train. I'm not much for the tourist spots & with knowing numerous police officers throughout Europe, I usually hook up with them & see the side that the locals see. But catching the sights of Big Ben, changing of the guard, etc. is still a must do.

Yeah I'm definitely going to see all the typical tourist places too. I'm going over there with a study abroad program through my university and the fees that I will be paying before we leave will cover room and board so all the $4500 i'm taking with me is strictly for travel. Thanks for the tip on the train. I hadn't thought about that!

I will be there July 9th through August 9th (maybe a couple weeks longer). I know that I am going to Ireland because my family is from there. I want to go to Germany, France, Switzerland, and Italy if I have the time

Go check out the Goat Tavern on Stafford St in London, it has been there for like 300 years, the bar tenders are pretty cool just for fun you need to see all the normal stuff, but remeber almost all the museums are free, oh and don't miss the British Library. If you have time visit Oxford it is a very interesting city.
