I am in Stourbridge west of Birmingham. Unfortunately at present no Mustang have to settle for a Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec till cash allows.

Any other U.K. Mustang owners help out with advice as how a Mustang 4.6 V8 GT compares with U.K. vehicles?
Being LHD doesnt bother me as I have driven in Europe in my uk car but its more what sort of MPG do you get? How does it compare with the FWD brigade e.g. Ford's Focus ST?
Any comments appreciated.
Cheers

Hello and welcome. It is impossible to compare a mustang to a focus. If you want a sporty drive with economy and quality or just quality get a focus st. The build quality of the 90s stangs is like that of the 80s fiesta. On the other hand if you want a car to just cruise in comfort, look good and put a big grin on your chops then mustang is the car of choice for many. Power is not big but the torque is very usable and there is plenty of upgrades on the market to make the most of what you have. As far as enconomy goes my v6 does about 18 to 20mpg around town. But on a recent trip to eastnor castle it returned an overall 30mpg! p.s part are plentyful and cheap if you buy from the states. Whatever you decide goodluck.

My 08 GT (4.6l V8) here in the US gets around 18mpg or so in normal city driving (which converts to about 21mpg based on a UK gallon size). On the highway at 60-70 with cruise on, it can get as high as 30mpg, but usually settles around 28-29 on the mpg computer (that's about 33miles per UK gallon). Combined, and most of my driving here is city based, much like most UK driving, it usually ends up around 21mpg (25 miles per uk gallon).

Personally, being used to british cars with 1.2-2,0 liter engines, and 2.0 being considered "over the top"... I think that's amazing for a 4.6 litre beast of an engine in a 3500lbs car.

May I ask hows it goin? Which engine/trans etc you using? I have seen this conversion done with Rovers old V8 (the ex Buick design as used in the SD1 Rover and Land Rovers etc) and the guy who fitted it reckoned it went in fine. I do remember he used a Rover manual trans and with open pipes it sounded soooo mean. Had all the workshop out to look when it roared. It was also a street sleeper as it had 1600GL badges on it .
