I'm just posting this to show other peeps curious about this topic.

All in all, I'm gonna have to take it to a shop and have them adjust the exhaust kit to sit flush in the new GT bumper.

But before I do that, I'm waiting on the bigger SLP exhaust tips I ordered. (It's a little riced out for doing that, but it'll look way better with bigger exhaust tips filling in those GT cutouts)

Hey guys, after almost a 2 month span of working hard, saving money, hunting, negotiating, traveling... my 8.8 is on my car.

I kept the 3.55's that came with the rear end and kept the bigger rotors and brakes off of the mach 1. (now I have to repaint the bigger rear brake calipers red to match my fronts!)

I'm back around a grand in my funds, but was it worth it?

Review:

The car feels a little heftier, possibly from the added weight from the 8.8. But when accelerating, it feels way more secure. It's been raining for almost 3 weeks (I live in the Pacific Northwest after all) so, I haven't been able to really floor it and test the traction of TWO tires spinning on the ground...yet. Either way, I will have to say there was a great improvement in responsiveness when I press down on the gas.

The speedo was off 4-5mph from the gears, but I fixed that problem with my SCT Tuner. It also turned off my service engine soon light, caused from my aftermarket CAI, which is awesome.

I had Justin from VMP work on the tunes, I set the tuner to the 92 Octane performance. Did I notice a difference?

I didn't really get to punch it, we're having one of our heavy rain storms at the moment, so I don't want to endanger the general public testing out my car. (mario kart spin out anyone?)

I'll have to update this later when my car actually gets to grip on dry road.

If you're in the Tacoma area and want to do a rear end install, a great shop is Ron's Fleetline Automotive. They have reasonable prices and Ron really knows his stuff! He's also a really nice guy and will try to work with you if you're a poor college student like me.

(when I pulled in, there was a classic pristine Gunmetal C2 Stingray Corvette getting worked on)

I was wondering how much trouble he is going to have installing them. I know he is going to take them into a shop and have a muffler guy do it, but I don't wanna sell him some 75$ mufflers that are going to cost him 300$ to have installed. He's my Air Force buddy, I won't do him like that. :)

Some thoughts please. Thanks. :bigthumbsup

My timing is off i believe. i feel lagg in my response on the engine. The 'Check Engine' light appears now too. I opened the hood up and ran a timing test with my light and noticed that the timing pointer was not lined up right with the knotch.

How do I adjust the timing? I hear that you cant, because the ignition coil packs fire the spark plugs through their spark plug wires? something to do with the ignition control module? and PCM?

Ive done a lot of tune up on my car, swapped PCM (previous problem..) , pulled the wire loom out (inspected it and cleaned it aswell) , checked fuel pressure wit my gauge and inspected all injectors.

I just recently pulled the spark plugs on my 1,2, and 3 cylinders (passenger side). I noticed a white chalk-like substance on the firing end for the 1st cylinder spark plug. I then swapped the 1st and 2nd plugs, drove it for a day. pulled them out. now i have 2 white chalk- like plugs. but thts just another problem im having..

Thanks!

Also, I asked in another post about the axle code on mine. On the door jamb it has X5 listed as the axle. Anyone know what that means? I've done some digging and can't really come up with what it means. I think the X means 1999 but not sure. Anyone got any ideas?

Does anyone have a clue what would cause this to happen so I can possibly get this fixed. Im no mechanic but I would love to have my ole stang back to running.

I'm not gonna waste your time with lame pictures of my rear assembly.
You guys have seen them time and time again.

But I will share the pictures I took on my trip picking up the thing. And what a surprise it was...

Me and my bud started the day cruising in his boss' F150 down I5 South towards Oregon to pick up my rear end.

I've been talking to this guy (who will be named "Bob" for his privacy) for a month to snag a rear end he was selling off of a 04' Mach 1. I've been working hard at my part time job, saving up to get this rear assembly for my car from this guy! (It's a tough balance between being a poor college student and trying to buy go fast bits for my stang!)

Anyway, we see a lot of nice cars out everything from new Z06 Corvettes to 911 Turbos cruising down the freeway.

After almost a 3 hour car ride down I call the guy I'm buying my rear end from to meet him at a spot. I asked, what kind of car should I be looking out for. I was expecting a Black 04 Mach 1 with a Saleen kit (where my new 8.8 came off of)

He replies: Look for a blue GT500.

My exact words: OKAY! (kid like enthusiasm)

He laughs.

Sure enough not even 10 minutes, we can hear him pull up to the Burgerking lot we were meeting up at. 2010 Kona Blue GT500. The exhaust note of that big V8 is intoxicating.

He leads us to a warehouse a couple miles down the bustling city streets.

As me and my friend walk through the warehouse doors (hangar) we are greeted by a dozen covered cars. My eyes are drawn to the contours and know I see a couple fastback mustangs... then I saw the Ford GT logo on the distinct car covered contours. No way...

Do you remember that scene in "Gone in 60 Seconds?" Where Angelina Jolie's character walks into a warehouse filled with Ferrari's?

The line was: "Hello... ladies..." And that's what exactly I was thinking.

"Bob" finally notices I'm frozen stiff with one foot still out the door.

"Do you want to see them?"

Me: (incoherent mumbling) ...okay!

One by one, he uncovers the cars.

I don't need to go into details, I have pictures.

The highlight though, he took me and my friend on a round about with the FORD GT!

Today was seriously one of the best.

I'm a poor college kid, trying to make his way in life. If there was a motivator to become successful... Today was the day.

I just wanted to share with you all what I got to see!

And ever heard of a Boss 525? No? Now you know it existed. Because, there's only one. And it's in a V6 Sleeper guise.
