This first started to happen Sunday (the one year anniversary of me getting the car. I figured something would happen ). I went to start my car and it would crank but not start. My dad and I checked the spark and it was good. We eventually poured some gas down a vacuum line and got it to start. The battery turned out to be very weak and we swapped it with a new one. The theory was the battery was already weak and I didn't start it for two days letting it drain. When I went to start it all of the minimal voltage is going to the starter and coil, leaving not enough juice for the fuel pump. It threw a P0190 code which is:
P0190 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Error
The past few days it was doing great. The new battery was working great and it cranks over better than ever. I was leaving work to day and it cranked with no start. I turned off the ignition for about 10 seconds then cranked it again. This time it started but, it threw a CEL again. I used my SCT Tuner and checked it (best $350 I've spent on my car) and it was the P0190 again.
I'm thinking either I have a bad fuel pressure sensor or a bad fuel pump.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance! :bigthumbsup

But I have no clue which one to pick. It's currently on the "stock" tire size which I recall the 02 Mustang came with 16's.
Has anyone installed a Xenon rear bumper valance, and can you give me any advice, suggestions or recommendations? I've seen body kits installed on some cars that look terrible (probably a poor installation) so I want something that will look really nice and stay in place. Is it an easy installation, or should I take it to a body shop for a professional installation?

Today I took them on a little road test and really got on them and made several sudden stops at various speeds, (NOT locking them up but stopping quick). I noticed when I pulled back in the driveway that they were smelling pretty bad. There wasn't any smoke or anything but it smelled like they were pretty hot. Is that normal after a new set of pads?

Hope you guys can help. I'm not much of a mechanic, nor even a hobbyist, but I like my car to run correctly.

I'm really stumped on this one.

The alternator was replaced one year ago. Currently, you start the car, turn the lights on, and when bringing ups the revs, the lights (dash and headlights) go a shade brighter. The lights remain at this level from here on out (until you shut the car off again).

The motor drops power about 3500rpm but only after being warmed up. Sometimes when it coughs and sputters, a grinding noise may be heard like maybe a pulley, or even the alternator or a/c compressor is losing a bearing.

I've recently replaced fuel filter and injectors, along with plugs.

The check engine light is NOT on.

Coming home this morning on the freeway the mustang was doing it's thing. I turned on the AC for a few minutes and it began to run like it should. I stayed in third and fourth gear for the rest of the ride, much of the time just moving the tachometer from 3 to 4,500, running smoothly without problem.

It remained running smoothly until I was off the freeway and had driven about 5 miles around town, then back to the coughing drop out as described above.

I feel somehow the problem is electrical, and the alternator "thing" is related. I don't think the fuel pump is weak.

Any ideas...

Thanks...
Jp

Something I've been wondering: If you buy gears and or new wheels, can you tune the car's computer to work with at least one or both on just a handheld or do you need a more "professional" tune?

I'm planning on buying a handheld soon, but the nearest dyno tuning outfit by me is in Phoenix which is just a pain, and I'd rather be able to do it myself.

I imagine that all you would need to do is use a handheld to tell the tuner that the gear ratio and wheel size have changed, but that might just be because I have no idea what I'm talking about. :bigthumbsup

I've never used a tuner, so any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance, and sorry if this is redundant, but I thought a search would be useless since discussions on gears and so forth are usually about what ratio to buy, not necessarily what to do when you have them.

edit: Actually as long as I'm on this subject, if I get sent to the desert inside of a year I'm going to want to use some of the money I make to put a PA in my car. I know that the PA itself should be tuned professionally on a dyno, but do I need to keep tuning it as I mod the car to handle the extra power? That is, for example, if I add a stage 1 or 2 clutch (which I know nothing about, admittedly) do I need to, and can I, tune it with a handheld? And so on...

120,000 Miles started out with a gradually using coolant and no visable leak and suddenly had no heat except high RPM driving. Replaced thermostat and it temperature briefly ran hotter then normal and burped the heater hose and had heat for a brief time and now back to heat with high RPM's. Noticed a new small puddle on the ground and traced it up to the top of the engine, behind the A/C compressor and looks to be under the plenum. Water and oil look good, no smoking, and no overheating. Is there another potential gasket leak or a atypical headgasket? Thanks in advance for any assistance.
