after taking my car to a few mechanics they seem to come to the conclusion that the ticking im hearing if in the head(drivers side) and not an exhaust leak. had the car on a lift and the mechanic use a stethescope to listen and he said its in the head........so my question is what are my options. my car was bought through carmax and i purchased the 6year/75,000 warranty. does a warranty fix head tick problem? other concern is ive installed a larger intercooler, larger intercooler reservior, larger radiator reservior, and an x-pipe with high flow cats. do you think they would void my warranty for those things? noticed a slight tick from day one, but has seemed to have gotten louder. still sounds like an exhaust leak to me though. its a rythmic tick the increases with rpm's, mostly hear it at low rpms after shifting from 1st to 2nd. thanks for any advice.

I'm thinking about a Procharger kit and cams as future mods for my car. However, I was wondering if the stock bottom end can handle the S/C kit plus cams? I've heard that the stock bottom can handle the S/C but wasn't sure if stouter cams would cause issues? Also, is there a certain point, mileage-wise, when a S/C can't be added safely/and retain some reliability w/o rebuilding (forged) the bottom end? I don't depend on mine as a daily driver but 95% of the driving I do with it is on the street. Right now it has 53k miles on it but sadly the S/C most likely won't be in the budget until it has between 75k-80k (the worst part of my calculation/estimation it is that I put less than 3k miles a year :(). Thanks.

About six months ago I installed a 70mm BBK throttle body and a Steeda cold air intake. About a month later I noticed my gas pedal starting to stick when attempting to accelerate, and the problem gets worse when it's raining.

I can temporarily fix the problem just by cleaning the throttle body, so I'm pretty positive that it is the throttle body plate that is sticking. But after only a few days, the pedal starts to stick again. This never happened until I installed these aftermarket parts, and I'm hoping someone might have some tips to correct this so I don't have to re-install the stock parts. I'm tired of dealing with this, and the car isn't fun to drive anymore.

Any help would be extremely appreciated.

Next week I plan on either getting all new suspension or 3.73 gears. Either way by christmas both of those will be installed.

SO after I do that, I wanted to do a supercharger but my motor has 140,000 miles on it, it runs perfect, but should I consider new cams and forged internals?

DO you know of a good set of internals and cams to use?

Also for my supercharger what do you suggest?

Just a few questions and I hope you all can answer them.

The car is stock except for the Pypes Off-road X and Pypes violators catbacks (PITA fitment!!) and the P/I intake.

thanks

Hey guys,

So I picked my car up from body shop today after getting the tiallights blacked out and the car repainted. The car looks amazing, the problem is after 2 weeks of it being out of commision it now has a misfire. I have MIL deletes because I'm running an O/R X, and a SCT tune, and showing no codes, but a very obvious misfire issue. The plugs are 68k miles old, and because there was no code and i'm strapped for time I was going to replace them all. My question is that since I have a 93 octance performance tune should I use different spart plugs other than the OEM plugs because I'm using different gas?

Any other suggestions on what to do to resolve the misfire are welcome. I have to drive back to college TONIGHT so this is a time issue.

Thanks!

My 2002 gt is having a horiffic time keeping coolant in the overflow, i have replaced the temp sensor and flushed the system 4 times. It holds pressure and i have replaced the cap just incase. I have done a compression test and all cylinders are where their suposed to be so i know its not a head gasket. the only thing i can think is the fan isnt comming on but the computer is sending the signal to the fan and the fan dose come on every once and a while. but not allways. most of the time it only comes on when i turn on max ac, but even then it dosent do it all the time. is my fan going bad or is it something else??? Like i said i tested the conector at the fan with a test light and the computer is sending the signal when the car reaches the proper temp, and it allso sends the signal when the max ac is turned on, but the fan dosent allways respond. could this be just a loose wire or is the fan shot????

I am i the process of diagnosing a problem with my '99 Mustang GT

The car is not pumping any gas, I can not hear the pump running, and the fuel gauge is also showing nothing in the tank when I recently put in gas.

The car has had a trunk mount battery done since last ran. I have tested for power at the impact shut off valve and it is getting power (and is pushing power through) I have tested for a ground at the plug at the rear (next to tank) and have gotten a ground but I am usure if it is goood enough for it to pump.

Does anyone know where the source of the ground for the fuel tank is located at? Does the sending unit have one ground wire going in?

Im thinking about running the ground directly to the battery to help with any issues but short of dropping the whole tank, im running out of ideas of things to check.

This problem started about 2 months ago, battery light would come on during normal driving conditions for about a couple minutes then go out. Now, it stays on a while longer, but seems to light mostly when accelerating but STILL lights periodically during normal driving. OK, with that said, I've tested (with engine running and battery light lit) the alternater output is 14.3vdc. Battery is a solid 12.7 with engine off. Lights, amplifier,ac etc etc all work fine with no notice of any charging failure. I've checked for proper grounds and plugs into alternater and all is well.Battery is not even 1 year old. I am taking the alt in today for a load test but until I update this post any info would be greatly appreciated!

Of course now I have the itch for another mod.

Question is what would a performance cam do for me if I want one with a grind to help out in the low to mid power band. I'm at 369 RWHP, looking to gain all around, low, middle and high (def dont want to lose in the low or mid range).

Would I notice the difference (worth the $800 parts and quoted $500 labor bill)

thanks all
