Hello.

I am new to this forum. I have been a member of a vintage mustang forum for years. I own a 1969 Mach1 m-code that I installed a t5 on.

I am looking forward to becoming a contributing member of this community..:bigthumbsup:bigthumbsup:bigthumbsup

Now with the nuts and bolts...

I have always had an eye for 76-77 Cobra II's and am currently looking for a rust free one (preferably a v8/ 4 speed) if anyone has any leads.. I live in southeastern Michigan..

I want to do a t5 tranny swap on it. I understand that from the factory the clutch pedal operated the clutch fork by a cable on the II's; is this correct?

Also since I want to do a t5 conversion do i want to be looking at a factory 4 speed car due to the following reasons:

1. Already has the clutch pedal
2. Already has the cable linkage

If I happen to find a rust free automatic car can anyone tell me where I can get an aftermarket clutch pedal, and cable linkage??

FINALLY, with regards to the pedal bracket assembly underneath the dash;;; are the 4 speed cars the same as the automatic cars minus the cluch pedal in that all i would have to do is find a pedal, drill a hole in the firewall for the cable, and slide the clutch pedal into an (existing hole)) in the bracket assembly under the dashboard??? THIS IS KEY TO KNOW IF ANYONE CAN HELP OUT THAT MAY HAVE DONE A AUTOMATIC TO T5 SWAP ON THEIR MUSTANG II......

Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!:smilie

The transmission is a later model c4 but i have custom headers which causes the stock one to not fit (i have the mustang II v8 bell housing). I've looked at some flexible dipstick tubes but they are push in types. Do those work?, but any other ideas would be nice. I thought about getting the original tube re-bent to make a sharper L shape out of the transmission fluid pan. What kind of shop could i get that done at?

Finally I have begun work on the 76. I am removing the right front fender as it is dented in severely. Hoping it can be pounded out to original shape. I have removed every bolt and nut holding the fender to everything. Yet I am having trouble seeing as I cannot pull out the back to pull it away from the bolts on the front. I am hoping I don't have to unbolt the front panel that the headlights are in to get the fender off. Anyone ever done this before or have a diagram or step by step walk through, seeing as both manuals I have and the set of shop manuals I have do not talk about removing fenders. Trust me I have every thing holding the fender off.
