Ok heres the scoop. The misses is letting me spend 1k on parts for my mustang. Out of the 1k I need to get a new rack. Has anyone driven both 20:1 and 15:1 ratio and is there any noticeable differences?

I am planning on pulling the motor and putting it on a stand. Should I send the block out to be cleaned, plained, bored, freeze plugs, and cam bearings? Was thinking I could reuse the crank and piston's. Would anyone know the cost and if all ,or any, of that would be needed? The motor has over K on it. Any suggestions would be great!

Next question would be head choice. There is a guy on here selling used GT40P heads. Would this be a good choice? And what would be the cost of getting those cleaned up and gone through?

I am not a ASE master by any means, but I am smart and love working on my mustang. I just don't have the smarts on what to buy or combo to go with. I have a GT40 intake and 75mm t/b on the bench in the garage ready to go on. 3g upgrade has been done. Other than this, the motor is completely stock. The AOD has been rebuilt and a suspension upgrade has been done. That is all. No gears, power adders, nothing..lol Sorry this is long and I do thank all for helping me with this...
I have bbk shorty 351 headers on it, but bolting them to the x pipe is a joke. I have to pry the x-pipe wide and I never get them to seal without exaust leaks.

Yes, I know that this topic has been torn apart several times on many sites and posts, but I have not been able to collect or find the correct information (thank you people who do no know what their talking about).

I recently purchased a 1997 Ford Explorer intake manifold. Sadly, this is not the desirable intake, so I do not have the ACT bung by the intake runner. I cannot find any definitive thread or site that provides sound information on the intake. My problems are the following:

I want to use my BBK 65mm throttle body, but which EGR spacer would I need to use? Can I use the Mustang throttle body or would I need to use the Explorer throttle body? I would rather avoid the hack job necessary to use the Explorer throttle body :)

Where can I purchase an ACT relocation kit? I'm afraid to crack or ruin the lower intake manifold. I read on another thread that the lower intake manifold on the later year Explorers are more prone to crack (it was a sticky on another site).

Also, I want to use a thicker spacer gasket for the upper and lower intake manifolds, which one can I use? Do I use the one for an Explorer or for GT40? Which gasket do I need to purchase for the lower intake manifold? Do the bolts come with the new gasket? I do not have the bolts for the intake manifold, where can I purchase those?

Thanks.

EDIT: I found a website, IST, that sells the ACT relocation kit.
The part number is AH-8711-F.
The company suggests installing the ACT at the air box, however, I have an aftermarket (MAC) cold air intake.
Can I simply tap the pipe and install the ACT there?

so ive been trying to get the damn hatch to start for a while. bought a new starter cuz the other two i was trying to make it start with where out of my 65 ( i heard they could be used, they fit, tho a lil big, and both where for a 157 tooth fly wheel sbf) no luck with them. i would fully charge the battery as much as i could atleast, it will only reach up to 10v when i charge it. now that i put the new 87 starter, it still wont crank. it used to work a few years back. im getting the impression that my battery is just dead. any other possibilities?

right now im charging my optima in my 65, gonna swap it over see if it cranks then.

as always all post, and any help will be greatly appreciated.

It says in the manual that i have to remove a lot of parts. so before I do just that i wanted to know if anyone has come across that same problem. Thanx!

Ok so here it is, my gauge pod will not illuminate but all the signal lights will light. As in the blinker, high beam, ect.. lights will work properly but the lights for the speedo tach fuel battery oil and temp will not light with the headlights on. The dimmer switch is turned all the way up. I have power to the pins from the harness. The printed circuit card does not seam to have any rips terars or burns. All bulbs in the bulb retainers are ok but I am missing one bulb in the check oil position. So my question is with my guage pod sitting on the kitchen table is there a way to apply power to try and get it to light independant from the car wiring? Is the a check for the dimmer switch to check proper function? Do I have to split the pod open for internal bulbs that might be blown? Any adivce would be appreciated. Thanks guys. One last thing the switch on the dimmer will illuminate the interior cabin lights properly.

I am going to do a 5 lug swap on my 1986 mustang. going with Cobra rotors up front. My question is, Will 2000 Mustang spindles work for this swap or do I have to use the 1994-95 spindles?

I am new to this forum, so please forgive me if make stupid mistakes.

I am planning on building a 351W for my 1994 GT. I am not new to working on motors, I have built the 302 I have in the car right now, so I would like to think I am not a complete idiot about this kind of work. My hope is to scope out opinions if the parts I have planned will work well together, as well as any warnings. As a note, I plan on this being a completely naturally aspirated motor, no N20, no forced induction. I would like to see something that can rev out as much as this block can take.

The list:
Block: 351W roller block out of a 1995 E250
Rods: The ones that come with the block (stock)
Pistons: Keith Black hypereutectics, dome top (-1cc)
Heads: AFR 205cc Outlaws
Valvetrain:1.6 roller rockers
Comp 35-426-8 cam (0.555 int./0.576 exh. lift, 236/240@.050 duration)
Intake: Edelbrock Victor EFI

From what I have calculated, this should make somewhere between an 11.5:1-12:1 static compression ratio. Any help/idol comments/tomatoes thrown is much appreciated!

Ive worked on cars before, but no engine work.

I thought i had a bad head gasket before because at 2500+ rpms smoke would come out of the tailpipes. My buddy is a professional mechanic and said my car was running rich. He put new spark plugs in and said they created some spark. He did a compression test, everything is okay except cylinder #2 has low compression, and #3 has none at all. He says it might be the valves that are causing the problems/ rocker arms/ rods, etc.. and says i need to take the valve covers on and see whats happening inside. I use this car everyday to get to work and school, and i need to smog it asap.

What do you guys suggest I do? I was also wondering whats the price range of this kind of repair? Thanks in advance

Hi Everyone!
I am new to this site. Lots of helpfull stuff here for us Stangerz! Can anyone recomend a speed shop for me to have my car tuned properly? I have a tun of mods and i am not getting the full potential out of my 92'. It seems like my powerband is gone after i installed a MSD Pro billet Distributer and messed with the TPS. I put the original distributer back in and it seems to idle ok and everything but not as much power as before. Car was dynoed @ 423hp & 490tq at the wheels. Now it feels like the car is 300hp. Would a throttle positioning sensor cause this? I am lost for what to do to fix this problem. Here is a couple things i have done to the motor. Vortech V1 supercharger, 24lb injectors, edelbrock heads, edelbrock upper and lower intake, 3" Basanni exhaust, e303 cam. 255 walboro fuel pump..... Lots more..... Please help me get this beast back to being a beast! Thanx
