Default What's the AFM Policy on Pulling Threads?

I just learned someone I know who came up with a six-speed manual-transmission conversion and had tried posting the information about what he did here and it was pulled. Yeah, he's trying to sell the kits... BIG DEAL! He didn't mention a damn word about "Hey, I'm selling these, please give me your money." He just posted the information so people would know about it. If they search on their own or, GOD FORBID, write to him and ask him more about it... WHAT CONCERN IS IT OF AFM THAT THEY DO SO? Most of you bloody well know who I'm talking about. I know the guy and he's a square shooter. So what exactly is the AFM policy on arbitrarily pulling threads? I'd like to know, because I checked all your posted "before starting a thread" bullcrap and didn't find a damn thing prohibiting what he did.

Is this place a forum for PEOPLE TO EXCHANGE INFORMATION "FREELY" OR NOT?! If someone comes up with some new whiz-bang gizmo (and yeah, they're SELLING IT ON THEIR OWN), and they want to put the word out WITHOUT saying a DAMN WORD about selling it... they can't do it here???

If you're going to pull threads you don't like, fine... this forum is your "toy" and you can take it home and not let the other neighborhood kids play with it if you want... but have the balls to put it in writing that you'll do so anytime you want, whether policy is posted or not!

And yeah... I AM just a wee bit ____ing pissed about it!

Hi Russ!

I can certainly understand you being so upset about this, you're not the first and won't be the last... but there is, according to our site rules (posted for all to read), no buying or selling outside of the classified section. This is for several reasons, a couple of which are to keep the boards neat and easy to navigate and being respectful to our sponsors who pay to advertise the products and services.

Maybe he would like to consider becoming a site sponsor - to which there are several benefits ScottHalliday can advise on.

Or, he might rephrase his post to include no selling. He's more than welcome to do that!

If there was "no selling hints" in there, I am not sure why it was pulled but someone saw fit. Can you PM (private message me) the orig. post?

Thanks for understanding,

Judi

Hey bud if your referring to Nice Pony, his thread wasn't pulled, it was simply moved to the 2005+ talk section. It was originally posted in the 2005+ v6 tech section where not as many people tend to visit. The talk section contains many more viewers so that the info will get out to more people. The friendly and smart mods here kindly move the more interesting threads there for all to see. If you are refering to him, you might consider checking all the threads before going on a rampage. Heres a link.
