I wanted to respond but really thought to think it over before I did.

I came to AFM because I was a member of another site and as a married 34 year old female - the language, insinuations and the pure fact I was a female, left me wide open for out and out junk at every level. I wasn't looking for a date - and from the explicit posts in the "off topic areas" to the "you should know that" in the tech areas to the berating of a mod someone did to their car, I had to find something else. I searched and searched for a forum that I could identify with, that I could ask questions on, that I could relate to and see myself staying there for a good long time.

I remember the night I found AFM, pouring over the rules - I was thinking it would be a great community and how right I was. From the friendships made to the site owners - there are a few that always sour the experience (I am not talking about you!!!) most of them are long gone for proving they can't handle the "adult" rules.

Like everything in life - there are improvements to be made, and there are - every single day - but I can honestly say, I am not sure many people realize the heart and soul put into this site by first and foremost - Scott and Cathy, the site owners... then by the Admins and Mods who volunteer their free time to ensure this is a safe place to come for all ages. I try not to post anything I wouldn't want my Grandparents reading or pre-teens. I call it Thanksgiving dinner talk... if you don't say it at home, why say it here in Scott and Cathy's house? Of course, there's always the exception - sometimes I have a little too much fun but it is always kept clean.

I am proud to be a member of AFM and and am extremely thankful for and proud of our members.

Thanks Scott, I had a feeling that was why. I hear people say that and it makes my skin crawl. I have walked up to a few when they say JC and say to them loves you. LOL They look at me funny then walk away.
I don't feel offended by the filter, at least the post is filtered to block those from taking His name in vain!
You never hear anyone use another name that way hmmmm

Thanks Frank for your passion it is refreshing!

To the Administrators and Moderators:

THANK YOU! For the time you have taken to discuss and explain what the heck is going on. I respect your decisions now that I have some background.

This site is the first and last that I check when I go online and it will remain so. Yes, I belong to other sites, and I may go days without checking them, but not AFM. I also believe in supporting site sponsors and let them know about it when I can.

Again, thanks,

Frank

As a woman, I too feel comfortable coming here because of the rules. I feel it is a safe environment. I read with great interest the explanation of why J E S U S was filtered. While the answer for this sounds on the surface logical, it still leaves me a little cold. That is why the monitors are here to remove any use of the Lords name in vain. Each time I go any place where the name of J E S U S is censored I feel that is one more nail in the coffin of the Christian. So many places any more try and remove any mention of Christianity, it is like a few are trying to silence majority. I am not a politically correct person, and the removal of the work J E S U S is the only complaint I have with this site. I would respectfully ask that the management of this board remove the filtering of this one word and let it be used with in the correct context. I am a regular on a truck board and it is similar to this board, it is family oriented and does not allow swearing and the use of the Lord's name in vain. We recently had member die. I made a post telling his family that my thoughts and prayers were with them and that I knew is was in the arms of J e s u s now. This is an example of what I think is in the right context. It is not that I want to use the word to try and shove my religion down your throat. That is between you and your God.

I'll just add - that it's a software filter that is used to comb posts...

The posts I moderate, the member uses either language filter avoidance techniques (sooooo CSI) Jesu*Christ or Bi*ch.... and so on and so fourth... when you see all ***** - that's our site filter software working.... not the moderators...

Scott,

I would first like to thank you for putting the extreme amount of time you did into answering each and every one of my questions. No administrator has ever done this for me on a forum before - that is extremely admirable. Next, I would like to commend you for your confidence and professional take on the entire discussion. You answered every question in entirety and with tact. As I said earlier, I was never directly voicing my opinion or attacking the site and it's staff - I'm so appreciative of what you all do here every day and it's the best Mustang Forum I've ever been on. That's why I've spent over 600 posts here (a small amount compared to stlwagon, but hey, he's a God...we can't compete with him). I was merely starting a discussion. But, I must say, every single point you made was absolutely solid and correct - I cannot argue with you. You couldn't be more right. My opinion has changed.

Thanks again and as always, I appreciate your time.

-Austin
