Default 2000 v6 Mustang bad gas mileage

I have a stock 2000 v6 Mustang except for i have a cold air intake and a cherry bomb glasspack muffler. I'm only getting 17 miles to the gallon and about half the tank was high way mileage. I replaced the wires and plugs at the same time about 10,000 miles ago and the wires are lifetime wires. I just gave it an oil change last week. Is there anything else i can do or check? Thanks

Since only half of it was on the highway, I'd say keep an eye on what that right foot is doing around town where the torque is fun to play with. That's where all my gas goes.

Ok, thanks... Looks like I'm sticking with bad gas then :P, I do have a heavy foot sometimes. I just figured since at least half of it was highway, and all cruise controll on the highway, it would be a little better than that. I would have probably been happy with 20mpg in the end of that tank.

I once drove 309 miles through the Appalachian Mountains along 70, 68, 79 and 50, all highway and averaged 26 mpg acording to the computer, and it also said my average speed was 76 mph. By that measure, if I had driven the speed limit all the way, I might have hit 30 mpg and not had to stop for gas with 40 miles to go. So I guess the computer is dilusional, huh?

thats weird be4 my gearing change i was getting 27 28 miles per gallon 3/4 highway. im getting anywhere between 22-25 miles per gallon roughly now.... 17 is a lil low isnt it. i have a friend and his car is mostly stock besides cai and flowmaster single in his car n he gets around 17mpg BUT he's leaking gas lol. (he's been driving like that for 2 months now dont ask me y.) i would check to make sure ur not leaking either lol. change ur fuel filter and check ur fuel lines for sure...

Turns out I spoke a little too soon. When I filled up, I only ended up using about 13 gallons of gas, so in the end I got about 20mpg. I'm ok with this, still a little lower than I would like, but I'm a little happier now.
