I have been bragging to my friends and pretty much anyone who will listen, so thought I would bring it here too...
My 7 year old son was selected for the Allstar team this year. He played well all season at second base and batted .625 (with only 2 strikeouts) in the regular season. Well, this weekend was their first tournament and I was a little nervous when the coach announced the lineup and I heard that my little man was batting 5th and starting at 3rd base (he has never played there).
To make a long and detailed story short, the team walked through the tournament, taking first place. He batted .778, scored 4 times, and drove in 9 runs... including a three run double to give us the lead (and ultimately the win) in a last inning rally, before which we were down 6-0. When all was said and done, that game ended 11-7!
In another game, we were up by 2 with no outs in the bottom of the last inning. The other team had runners on 2nd and 3rd, with the heart of the batting order coming up, so a base hit would easily tie the game up. My boy ran down a fly ball in foul territory for the first out, and then made an unassited double play for the second and third out, stranding the runners, and saving the game!
I could go on and on, but I wont. Just wanted to share with everyone how proud I am of him and how it was sooooo worth not getting any sleep all weekend (working all night, then going straight to the ball field) to see my son shining at the ball field!
If you have a child who has given a similar performance, in any sport, you already know the kind of pride I am talking about.... If you dont, I highly suggest getting your kids involved in some type of activity, sports, music, or anything.... Give them more love and support than they can handle, then sit back and enjoy the moment when your level of pride is so high that you cannot stop talking about it
Sorry for such a long thread.... Go Joshua #10!!!!!!!!
