No, worse, it's where my job's at... and tonight was the night from Hell (so appropriate since it was Halloween!) Today's lunch? Three Justaburgers with cheese, no onions... hell yeah, all taste, nothing healthy... and of course, a big friggin Dr. Pepper.

Habanero Mango? Two of my favorite words! I love both of those things, separately or together. I've actually made a homemade spicy Mango sauce for hotwings before, very good with fried plantain 'chips' on the side. I didn't know Buffalo Wild Wings had such a flavor, though. Is it a relatively new flavor? I generally get the Spicy Garlic there. I haven't been there in a while, though. The location in Knoxville is on 'the strip' at the University of Tennessee campus, so it is annoying to get to, usually too crowded and parking is almost impossible. My wife and I go to the one in Chattanooga sometimes when we are down that way. It sounds like it is about time for a trip in that direction (there is also a fairly impressive beer store that isn't too far from there.)
I have no clue what I am having for lunch today. I'm not really sure if I am having lunch at all.
It's semi new. That, and the asian zing are my two new favorites there.
The Habanero mango is tops though!

I hit the machine here at work and got a small can of Hormel chili (I know, I know, disgraceful to even call that 'chili' but it filled a hollow space, at least.) I almost got Vienna Sausages but there were no crackers in with them. Eating 'Vie-annies' without saltines is just downright uncivilized!
Hammy sammy with pepper jack cheese, grey poupon slathered all over, potato(e) chips (a Little Dan Quayle joke there). chocolate chip cookies, pepsi and some kids halloween candy.

I always heard vienna sausage is just potted meat with a H___ on.
I personally love a potted meat, cheese, and mustard sandwich.

Hah! What can I say, trips with my dad in the semi as a kid taught me to appreciate Vienna Sausages. Never liked potted meat as much as he did, but Underwood Devil devilled ham (and devilled chicken, for that matter) I absolutely loved. Some of that on a couple slices of Merita and I was good to go. Didn't even need mayo or mustard.
Another favorite was Armour Dried Beef in a jar. Couldn't eat too much of that at a time, though - too much salt. I just made sh** on a shingle, er, creamed chipped beef, with some of that the other night. (My wife's grandfather was in the Navy during WWII and he said they always called that dish "foreskins on toast." He was on a supply ship that took food to the other ships, so he said the crew generally ate quite well.)
Of course, fried bologna is always good, but my favorite 'processed food' sandwich has to be one made with good, crispy fried SPAM with plenty of mustard.

You don't like Spam do you?

Yep. In fact, it looks like I was editing my last post while you were typing this one.

Now, I mean good old, regular SPAM. Not TREET or any of the knockoffs and not any of the 'varieties' of SPAM, just the original, old school pink meat in an can (just be sure to wash off that mystery jelly stuff first.)

Oh, crap, does that bring back memories. I'd be on a trip with my dad and we would be scarfing Cheese in a can and crackers. We always seemed to run out of crackers before we ran out of cheese, so (like any red-blooded American man) we would eat the cheese straight from the can.
Speaking of cheese and 'cheap' food, my great grandmother used to get commodity cheese as part of her 'old folks' benefits. When I was a kid, she still lived by herself and got around well enough that my sister and I would stay the night with her sometimes. I hold to this day that nothing makes a better grilled cheese sandwich than government cheese.

She made some serious mac and cheese with that stuff, too. I make macaroni and cheese 'from scratch' (okay, I buy the noodles because getting my pasta maker out for that would be a P.I.T.A.) I get smoked white cheddar from a local cheesemaker (Sweetwater Valley Farm), pick up some gouda, make a sauce, put in the cooked macaroni then bake it with more cheese on top.
If you like Mac and Cheese, try this sometime...
Cook grits, drain the excess water, put in a few dashes of hot sauce, lots of fresh ground black pepper and a couple of good handfulls of the cheese of your choice, grated (I like the aforementioned smoked white cheddar with an equal portion of Monterrey Jack from the same cheesemaker.) Makes some really good cheese grits. Now, here is my little twist on that:
Eat those grits as a side dish one night then put the remainder in a long, narrow container with a tight lid and store them in the refrigerator. Next day, turn them out onto a plate, slice them and fry them in an iron skillet (use bacon grease, vegetable oil or my favorite - butter) until they are golden. They will be crispy outside but smooth and creamy inside and are delicious with pork chops and turnip greens.
One thing I don't eat...Hamburger Helper. Can't stand the stuff. Don't like most jarred spaghetti sauces, either - I make my own. My wife laughs sometimes because I am such a 'food snob' on one hand but, on the other hand, I still like Vienna Sausages, etc.
Must be a psychic connection. My wife just came in for her study group meeting (I'm still at work) and she brought some Sweetwater Valley Farm smoked white cheddar to snack on. Even better, she brought me some of a new flavor they have - Habanero! Imagine Pepper Jack made with pieces of red habanero instead of jalapeno. I haven't tried it before - it's gooooooood!!!
A burger from this place in town called Mr. C's.... simply the BEST burger anywhere! Double 1/3lb patties, double cheese, thick smoked bacon, all the veggies (fresh and crisp at that!) on a grille-toasted bun (**** buntoasters, they suck!)... I don't care that I probably gained 10 lbs from eating that thing, and the seasoned tator tots that came with it... and the 32oz. Big Red (YES! BIG RED FROM A FOUNTAIN! THE BEST KIND!!!) It was damn good! Even better because I didn't have to cook it!
(Okay, end insane rant about the best damn lunch ever here.)

I have Stouffer's lasagne again today. Tomorrow wil be left over homemade enchiladas.
