Default Chavez Threatens to Halt Oil Sales to US

Ha, would it even matter? I believe it was Trip who said their oil is mainly thick crud that is expensive to refine, and if they quit selling to us, they would basically put a nail in their own coffin.

ABC News: Chavez Threatens to Halt Oil Sales to US
President Hugo Chavez on Sunday threatened to cut off oil sales to the United States in an "economic war" if Exxon Mobil Corp. wins court judgments to seize billions of dollars in Venezuelan assets.
Exxon Mobil has gone after the assets of state oil company Petroleos de Venezuela SA in U.S., British and Dutch courts as it challenges the nationalization of a multibillion dollar oil project by Chavez's government.
A British court has issued an injunction "freezing" as much as $12 billion in assets.
"If you end up freezing (Venezuelan assets) and it harms us, we're going to harm you," Chavez said during his weekly radio and television program, "Hello, President." "Do you know how? We aren't going to send oil to the United States. Take note, Mr. Bush, Mr. Danger."

Default Citgo

What, again with the empty threats?

Chavez is a nutjob, pure and simple.

We can only hope he picks a fight with us. He has half the national treasury of Venezuela invested in American refineries, oil pipelines, Citgo and Wall Street.

We should just tell him "OK, keep your oil," and watch him sink like a stone when he can't sell enough to survive.

ONEZSTREET was the guy who pointed out what low quality sludge they pump out of the ground, and he was right.

But the bigest problem they have is finding a customer to absorb what they produce that is geared to REFINE it an can be accessed with their current transportation system.

Chavez knows these things (or maybe not - he IS a nutjob).

He has about as much credibility as algore.

India has very little, and China only about half of what they need to supply their national needs. Both countries import more finished petroleum products than crude oil.

Hence Venezuela's problem.

UPDATE: Turns out Exxon is not just laying there and letting Chavez rape them, nationalizing their property.

Exxon Mobil is suing Chavez's nasty skivies off, in the US, UK and the Netherlands:

Apparently he's now given himself an economic wedgie.

PdVSA suspends all commercial dealings with Exxon - MarketWatch

Unless I am very much mistaken he is extremely strapped for cash, to the point of trading debt for oil with France.

This guy is indeed a nutjob.

Default Exxon

He nationalized a big Exxon operation in Venezuela, and now Exxon is suing his commie behind all over the planet. The UK has already frozen about $12billion in assets, and I believe the U.S. and the Netherlands are prepared to do even more.

That would include Citgo and about 7 large refineries here in the U.S., plus lots more tied up on Wall Street.

LOL, I hope Exxon takes him for every dime!

To show us JUST how tough he really is, Hugo has decided he will no longer sell Exxon's own oil to, er, Exxon.

That'll show 'em!

I repeat: I hope Exxon ends up OWNING every Venezuelan asset outside the borders of Hugoland.

Good news for me, personally. If Exxon takes them over, I won't have to avoid Citgo stations anymore.

Default Chavez and Hezbollah

Washington Times - U.S. ties Caracas to Hezbollah aid

It would seem that Hugo and his commie buddies have gotten cozy with Hezbollah as well as FARC.

What is it with stalinists and terrorists? Talk about odd bed mates!

Hugo Cavez (ugliest, most procine man on the planet) playing footsie with Hezbollah is a picture to turn one's stomach, that's certain.

Yep, that's him.

Unfortunately, we have our very own versions of Chavez running Congress:

boortz.com: Nealz Nuze Today's Nuze

Nancy Pelossi has received a revelation from Gaia that drilling for our own oil is a "hoax".

Of course, what she's really doing is fighting a delaying tactic to prevent the Republicans from using this as a wedge issue to win seats in November.

So what's REALLY happening is the Democrats in Washington are driving gas prices up to make Bush look bad, and gambling that this will all stick to the Republicans (we tend to blame the White House for such things during an election year).

I think they are right. The same folks who are begging the Dems to raise oil company taxes as "punishment" (so we can all pay more for gas, of course) will go with this fake-out.

Disgusting.

You got that right, Nancy Pelossi wants the strategic oil reserve to dump oil on the market to bring down prices, it didn't work before and it won't work now. Besides what if there were a national emergency and we needed oil? At the same time she is against drilling for more oil. On top of that she and her fellow dum dums push for more ethanol production made from corn. We all know what that is doing to the price of food. And of course they will not take any blame for the results of their actions. It all flows downhill.
These idiots just don't get it.

Default Oil in Michigan

OK, PC, here's some local news for you: Michigan might have a lot of oil and/or gas under one of the national parks!

US judge blocks gas drilling in Michigan forest - Yahoo! News

Problem is, one of our endless supply of nutjob judges thinks that the National Forest Service didn't prove to his satisfaction that the Kirtland Warbler (which might be nesting somewhere within the Park) would not be disturbed by drilling.

The test drill operation, which originally received permission to start drilling over 3 years ago, has been held up in this court, and now faces the usual scenario, which would be continuing the fight until finally the Federal lease goes away (or the oil company gives up and leaves the country, whichever comes first).

LOL, just turned on the tube, and Pelossi was pontificating about the oil companies not pumping oil from all the ladnd they already lease!

First of all, she's assuming there IS commercially valuable oil UNDER all those exploration leases, which is of course nonsense.

Then there's the little matter of actually GETTING a permit to drill, when and if you DO find oil!

And then there's the Kirtland Warbler...
