Sure, bad stuff happens. Sometimes the turkies get away with it - and people like me make sure they are haunted forever (aka, the Clintons and Reno). I hate it that they skated, but sometimes the evil-doers get lucky.
But sometimes they don't.
The whacked-out DA in South Carolina who screwed over the college team ended up losing his position, his career, AND his freedom.
The billionaire that started the junk bond craze, got caught ripping off the American people, and spent the next 18 years doing hard time.
Its looking like the judges, DA and probably the local police commissioner that pulled the nonsense with the kids in Texas are staring at career death right now.
Just because we don't always win is no reason to throw our hands in the air and give up. The right thing to do is to fight the good fight. Smacking your state legislator upside the head with some phone calls and emails and snailmails is not hard, and CAN have a salutory effect on even the most dense.
Funny thing is, its the dumb ones that are usually most concerned with losing their jobs (go figure) who WILL listen when enough of the home folks scream at them.
I know, its a pretty cumbersome system, but as I always say "Its the best available system selected from a LOT of bad ones".

H3LL, Farmers Branch, TX and Oklahoma each just had some of their Illegal Immigrant Laws turned down by judges. |
