Total, total BS. If it weren't for the weather, beaches, San Diego, the Chargers and Lakers..... it would totally suck. Still though, it's a sickening and infuriating thought that I have to pay for these chumps.

THAT'S BS!!!! Why are we paying workers comp for people who shouldn't be here without permission in the first place. Our economy is bad enough for AMERICANS to have to pay for each other no less illegals. Send 'em back on a gurney!
Too bad there isnt a universal eligibility definition. Personally one that makes illegal immigrants ineligible for workers comp.
The two categories are stated in the first post at least make it perfectly clear. Many states are so generally worded that it's left to a court to make the destinction between who is, or is not entiteld to workers comp.
I'm not in agreement that there should be a universal definition, though. That goes back to the fact that there are 50 States who control this area of our law and culture, and each one is slightly (or as in this case, potentially DRAMATICALLY) different.
I wouldn't change a thing as to it being left up to the individual states.
I just think that the folks living in the states where it is distorted in this particular fashion might want to discuss it with their state legislators...

This does not surprise me. It is pathetic though IMHO.
I believe that if someone is ILLEGALLY someplace they should not benefit from most, if not all, things that those legally there do. But criminals have been getting more and more benefits and “rights” over the years. Someone can break into your house, rob you, get hurt in the process and sue YOU for that injury… and WIN.
You can own a dog, have a high fence around your property, and if someone climbs that fence and your dog bites them, YOU are in trouble.
The list goes on and on…. what a shame.

I work in Fl as a Safety Director for a construction company. The illegals are required to be included in the Workman's Comp here. Pisses me off. They cost us a butt load of money every year.
Unofficially, most companies will call INS on the guys that are get they feel are trying to abuse the system. I don't know who makes the calls or who gives the order, but when we get guys trying to BS the system, they tend to disappear and get deported.
The whole system is written to protect them. Once a year I get a list of names from guys whose SSN#'s don't check out. I have to find them and lay them off till they get it fixed. I will be doing it again next month. We are only allowed by the Gov to do this once a year. They will leave for a week or two and come back with a new name. I know that the new names are BS but our hands are tied by the Gov. If we don't let them come back they can sue for discrimination. They just keep coming back, I guaranty I already know whose names I will get this year, they are the same every year.
Really pisses me off. Now again, I don't "know" who does it, but INS gets called every year in July. And these guys will get deported, because of an anonymous tip off. Gotta love hearing them yell "La Nigra", Spanish for immigration, and run like cockroaches. LOL

Like that would do any good. That's like the Gay Marriage ban in California being over turned by a judge. The people of Calif. had already said they did not want Gay Marrage in Calif, and then a Federal Judge (Who is not appointed by the people) vacated their decision (or whatever they do).
