Twister....I don't have the PM's any more. The space to keep PM's is limited on here and I'm not into saving anything that is tripe. I only save a few of the PM's that specifically relate to some technical issues for my car.

I know you were making a joke. But, you were also posting political stuff. I won't even get into judging what is racial and what is not because you I did not agree with some of your racial calls in the past. We PM'd back and forth at least twice on the matter.

Dale's post at the top of the community forum is very explicit with respect to keeping political stuff out of the forums, Justnlx has also requested that political stuff not be posted and here you go posting political stuff as a moderator and do so by justifying it as a joke.

Following that same reasoning a person could post something racial and then say its ok because its just a joke.

Like I said before, I thinks it hypocritical of you to justify what you post by labeling it a joke while interpreting others posts as being of a serious nature.

If you are going to be a moderator and censor as much as you do compared to other moderators, you need to stop posting any political stuff and set an example.

FOR CRYING OUT LOUD PEOPLE…...pretty soon we wont be able to talk about anything that doesn’t have the word mustang in it.
It was asked that we not get political on things and this is starting to get into a war over past post.
This thread was started to spread information to other members who want to boycott French Products.
Twister posted an opinion….there was only one paragraph that could of gotten political but Twister didn’t post personnel political views…….he just didn’t believe in the boycott….now if you want to try to you can make anything political…..right now just talking about the price of gas could be considered “political”. Or lets not talk about imports because they get good gas mileage, and there it goes again, can’t talk about gas…….
I love a good debate and I sometimes get frustrated that we cant get into some topics in the community lounge, I would love to discuss some of these things with people that I have other common interests in, but because some people resort to name calling, inflammatory statements or cries of racism the subject or taboo.
There are tons of topics that politics can get dragged into but IF WE CAN’T ACT LIKE ADULTS THEN WE WILL BE TREATED LIKE CHILDREN.

How many Frenchman does it take to defend Paris?
None they never had to. Little humor to lighten the post.

They had to, they just chose not to.
And it still takes one to surrender.

That reminds me... anyone here tried the google search for 'french military victories' and clicked 'i'm feeling lucky'? good stuff.

Many nations voted against war, Mexico my home was one of those, so why not boycot us?
Guys, this boycot is totally absurd, it was the French or Mexican or "else" gvmts that voted against WAR not the US or the american people.

A boycot to the french products is no big deal to the US, but try one on Mexico, no more F-150s, Focus, Levis, denim, oil, and the list goes on.

Everyone has the right to their own opinions, that applies to all the world not only the US.

ok..now BE POLITE, this can be a good "conversation"

No offense taken, it is a common issue.

We also buy TONS of stuff from the US, so it is a "fair" play, all in all we buy more from you than you buy from us. And that transaletes into more US jobs.

Theres also the mexican "immigrant" issue, if it weren't for them, an orange in the US could cost twice as much, and that is just one example.

We DEPEND a lot on each other.
Ah, BTW, there are many Mexican-US citizens fighting this war for you.

I respect everyone in the military. And boycotting mexico would be stupid. to me it's like an extension of the US because we have a lot in common. I like orange juice thanx. I have no problem with mexican imigrants because in my experience they are hard working family oriented people same as I

You know I may of misread the above quote but is seems to me that this thread was started to show patriotism and support for our troops who are sacrificing so much.
Now I don’t believe anywhere there was a request to restart a debate that was already debated and put down to rest by the moderators because it was getting heated

This was suppose to be for those that are actively boycotting , but a moderator tried to twist it into a debate, the request was made for this not to turn political and into a debate as that was not the original topic of the thread, again it went downhill and I tried to bring it back on topic and now another moderator has tried to turn it into a debate.

Well it seems obvious that the moderators want to debate this issue so why not start a new thread (and don’t close it down when it get too hot to handle, after all its your can of worms you want opened) and let this one stand as is, one for those members who are actively boycotting French products to show support for our troops.

Boycotting is a democratic form of free speech, and it is not stupid or useless. In a free society if people don’t like something they have the freedom to show their disapproval, and if a majority of people show their disapproval via boycotting then they can severely hurt and maybe change the opinion of a company or government. In some countries (like Iraq) you might be killed for doing something like that.

I seem to remember several threads that were threatened to be closed because they were off topic. I have always tried to abide by the rules (even if I don’t fully agree) set down by AFM as I am a member visiting their site, but if I have to abide by them then so should everybody, including the moderators.

We have all visited other mustang sites and I think everybody would agree this is the best site with a great group of people, but think of it this way, if a new member (maybe he is in the military of has family or friends in the military) the new member came to and makes the above post to show support for our troops, then the post got blasted as stupid and twisted into a debate by moderators, how long do you think the new member would be around? What do you thing his opinion of AFM would be?

For those who don’t want to boycott, fine, for those who want to debate it fine start a new thread, for those who want to show support we should be allowed to without double standards .

Who was Robin Williams quoting when, in the movie Dead Poets Society, he said ".....we will all become food for worms...."?

County.....I think "can of worms" about sums it up.
