Default Energy Guzzled by Al Gore’s Home in Past Year Could Power 232 U.S. Homes for a Month

Since taking steps to make his home more environmentally-friendly last June, Gore devours an average of 17,768 kWh per month –1,638 kWh more energy per month than before the renovations – at a cost of $16,533. By comparison, the average American household consumes 11,040 kWh in an entire year, according to the Energy Information Administration.

“Actions speak louder than words, and Gore’s actions prove that he views climate change not as a serious problem, but as a money-making opportunity,” Johnson said. “Gore is exploiting the public’s concern about the environment to line his pockets and enhance his profile.”

I am shocked at the Goreacle. He has let me down.

Environment people scream about everything all the time and how much is wasted. But they are the ones with the heat blasting at 100 degrees in the winter consuming more energy than their whole block. I think the word i am looking for is irony, maybe hypocrite.

I think the piece by the Tenn Center for Policy Research is OK but it could use some factual polishing.

Gore does use much more energy than the average homeowner. This isnt intended to justify the excess amount he uses but even I have to be a little fair to the weasel and agree with another information source that he uses 18 times more energy, not 20 times the average as the Tenn piece reports. That makes Gore just a tennie weenie bit less of a tin-hate wearing hypocrite in my opinion. Here are theh additional facts.

His house is a rather punny 10,000 square feet by Texas standards. sarcasm intended. Actually it is about 4x the size of the average home in the US. Maybe it would use more energy.

Also in Nashville where the Gore lives, the average energy consumption by its residents is snobishly higher than the USA average. Is he trying to hard to fit in???
