If he hated white folks, why did Huckabee and the Catholic priest defend him?

taken from two different interviews.
I can make County say he's homosexual, I've done it, and he knows it.

From 1959 to 1961, Wright attended Virginia Union University,[2] in Richmond. In 1961 Wright left college and joined the United States Marine Corps and became part of the 2nd Marine Division attaining the rank of private first class. In 1963, after two years of service, Wright joined the United States Navy and entered the Corpsman School at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center.[11][7] Wright was then trained as a cardiopulmonary technician at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Wright was assigned as part of the medical team charged with care of President Lyndon B. Johnson (see photo of Wright caring for Johnson after his 1966 surgery). Before leaving the position in 1967, the White House Physician, Vice Admiral Burkley, personally wrote Wright a letter of thanks on behalf of the United States President.[12][13][14]
Wright is a fire and brimstone preacher, who said nothing different than Robertson did when he said America deserved the attacks of 9-11, or others that claimed New Orleans deserved the hurricane. (Ironically, of course, the French Quarter was preserved).
Preachers of all stripes say crazy things, period.
his actions tell a different story, and there are several white pastors he has reached out to, assisted, and worked with on a number of issues.
Taking an excerpt of one sermon and demonizing him serves no purpose at all, particularly when I can do the same with anyone here who has posted long enough.
Okay, so we are basing his history to his actions and how he preaches today. Okay I'm fine with that, but that still does not answer why he said it? If he preaches it, he believes it. Otherwise, why would he be a preacher? Would a preacher for Muslims preach to Cathlics? No. So, does he believe "God Damn America?" Does he also believe that our country is ran by "Rich White People?"
I also saw him on an interview on the news (I can dig that up if you want it) where Wright was very rude to the anchor asking him the questions, he wouldn't even let him get a word in. And another question, why does Obama have a picture of the mask murder and terrist hang in his Houston headquaters? (I can get the name of that terrorist if you like also)

He got p.o.ed.
Sorry, it happens to the best of us. Maybe he was stopped for DWB, who knows?
Our country IS run by rich white people! This surprises you? do you know the net worth of the Senate? Bush? Cheney (who's even richer!) Pelossi? she's extremely wealthy - Reid?
None of them are poor white folk, poor black folk, poor jewish folk, poor cuban folk - the poorest was Clinton!

So was Lee Harvey Oswald. Timothy McVeigh was an Army veteran - as was James Earl Ray. Military affiliation does not equate to morality or even patriotism.
But, hey, go ahead and defend him. Sounds good, to me. In fact, let's accept him as above reproach and his word as unimpeachable - including his claims that Obama definitely knew his (Wright's) views all along and, without a doubt, shares them - but is just too much of a politician to admit it. You know, on second thought, maybe you've got it straight. Maybe Wright really is a good guy - and is the only one willing to tell the real truth about Obama. After all, he was a Marine.
So, which is it, KS? Is Wright an upstanding, truthful fellah whose indictments of Obama should be accepted without question or is he a self-serving, radical nutjob who will say anything to stay in the spotlight? Of course, it is possible that he is a nutjob who just happens to be telling the truth about Obama - the two are not, necessarily, mutually exclusive.

No, our country is run by rich people, period. You think Condoleeza Rice is hurting for cash? You think she (not only black, but a woman) doesn't move in power circles? She's just one example. The sooner folks of all colors realize that the rich and powerful elite, regardless of race or creed, benefit from keeping us regular folk at each others' throats over race, etc. the sooner we can see who the real oppressors are - and they aren't of any one, particular race or creed. Not even the 'evil' white male.

I met McVeigh, sorry but he was crazy even then, and most people that I saw didn't want much to do with him.
Oswald was also a loner/loser (assuming he did it ;-))
I don't think Wright is as crazy as one would think from an excerpt from one sermon (you'd think there'd be a LOT more) would show.
I've been similarly ticked off before, when they arrested my brother for driving my car, claiming it was a white person's car. Or when I had every police gun in town pointed at me in Manhattan, KS, or, for that matter, when I was handcuffed and on the pavement based on a description that I didn't fit -(I saw the guy they arrested - he looked absolutely nothing like me).
I don't know what was going through his mind when he gave that sermon, but although I may not have walked a mile in his shoes, I've probably walked a good 1/4 mile.

True, 100%.
But Rice is 1/several hundreds. You'd have to forgive Wright for overlooking the small percentage.
But you couldn't necessarily forgive him for being blind to the fact any more than you could overlook the feminists who overlook Thatcher.
It's a power game more than a race game, my time in D.C. more than solidified that conviction. I recently did some work for Nixon's former press secretary - she'd heard that I was back from D.C. and wanted my opinion of it - I gave it to her, and she remarked that when she was there, there weren't many career politicians, and that Washington's being destroyed by the careerists who are more interested in careers than in the interests they would have if they had their own farms, small businesses, and careers back home.
I'm not sure that I would disagree.
Wright grew up in a different time, and his times color the lenses of what he sees.
Condoleeza Rice was shopping for shoes while New Orleans folk drowned in more ways than the obvious.
but I reiterate, there are no poor or even middle class folks in Washington. If they were once, they aren't anymore, and if they aren't anymore, then they owe somebody rich something.
That's the way of things, now.

KS.... "Your" people (be they candidates, political party, or whatever) can NEVER do anything wrong. They can NEVER be anything but victims of everyone/everyone else. And the people you choose to attack can NEVER do anything right.
Your spin and excuses have all been said before, and you know what.... they didn't work then, and they don't work now. And frankly any respect that I might have still had for you tucked deep down inside has now vanished.

The only difference between "my" people and "your" people, is that "my" people can be reasoned with.
"Your" people assume they know everything, despite evidence to the contrary and without regard to the feelings of others.
"Your" people are surprised when they go into a black restaurant and find people behaving like "typical" Americans.
"Your" people are surprised that threats accelerate teh development of nuclear weapons among enemies.
"Your" people are surprised that people don't fear and/or admire power for power's own sake.
"Your" people will believe a thing because someone told them to believe it, and they will carry that belief to their grave without ever questioning it or where it comes from. -Going to cartoonish scenarios rather than common sense.

Lastly, "your" people seem to need someone to look down upon and someone to fear. They will turn anyone who threatens their belief into a demon, an object of hate.
"Your" people need a "Your" people, and a "My" people.
"My" people don't hate anyone, and try to raise "All" people up.
Unfortunately, that means that "your" people will demonize and hate "my" people.
But that's ok. "My" people have had that burden for quite some time, and we can live with it.
We'll keep trying to raise you up, too!

OK, this is another one of those topics which can get heated and end up with nothing but insults exchanged. Given that there is a world of authentic information out there on this topic, personal insults and such are not necessary or within the Rules of this site.
ALL of "you" people who can't find something more substantive than lists of vague but personal insults need to settle down, please! (Both sides of the equation, and again, PLEASE).
I think everyone knows how much I value political free speech - and how important disucssions like this can be to reviving the American political process. And this COULD be a valuable example, if we can get back on topic and off the stereotypes.

Trip, I'd just like to say that "My" people are smart, intelligent, beautiful, generous, kind, funny, and sexy -and include Nobel Prize winners, Angelina Jolie, Bruce Springsteen, Albert Einstein, Tecumseh, King, and sometimes include people who weren't originally "my" people like Brittany Spears, who we didn't ask for (but we'll fix her up) Brent Scowcroft, Paul O'Neill, and Colin Powell.
Your people are nice, too!
Lessee' there's Ron Silver, Magnum P.I., Aaahnuuuld (but he's becoming one of my people, too . .. .)
and -uhhhh! There's you Trip! But you are "my" people, too!

My point is that the topic is about Obama's attributes, NOT his ancestors - his ideals, not some distant cousin's religion - the depth of his character, not the tone of his skin.
LOL, given that the man is over 93% Caucasian, I think its a demonstration of the open-mindedness and acceptance of the voters that they have accepted him so readily!
If we can't get beyond the racial stereotyping or the taunts, there's no hope for this thread, which COULD be about the man rather than some boring re-hash of racial tit-for-tat.

Phelps is a fire and brimstone preacher, so I guess his action speak louder then words also?
Wright is in the same category as Phelps. You speak as if one sermon was out of line, no now your head is buried in the sand, Wright believed every word of it and he would not keep his mouth shut about it and that is why Obama dropped him like a hot potato, I have no doubt Obama shared his mentors believes whole heartedly, but Obama is smart enough to know someone with his believes can’t publicized them and still get elected. His wife and Obama share Wright’s opinions.
You say it was taken out of context listen to the tape, it’s his own words in response to a question, his grandmother was a raciest, just like Obama is and his wife and his preacher/mentor are.
Clinton did no wrong when he was in office you followed him blindly glorifying whatever he did, but then she ran against Obama and they became evil. Evil because now you have a new savior who can do no wrong. Just like Gore could do no wrong or Kerry could do no wrong, till they cross paths with whoever is currently the pick of the day.
Your candidate is full of flaws but you can’t see them. You overlook information I know you see, you just don’t admit it exists; you point fingers, deny, and attack the information even when it is right in front of you.
