The French Revolution produced the saying "no enemies to the Left" - a mindset that has poisoned both the Left and the Right in American politics. As a result, some figures who should be repudiated have, instead, become prominent representatives. On the Right, in particular, the "go along to get along" approach has created a Movement where the bad guys are protected, and the people who get promoted are those who make friends, not waves.
It's wrong, and it needs to stop. So, with that said...
The continued tolerance and prominence of Jerome Corsi - his books, columns and appearances - is just embarrassing. It is embarrassing for the Right, embarrassing for Republicans, embarrassing for conservatives and libertarians, embarrassing for all of us.

The Right seems to engage today in social promotion of hatchet men, bullies and political hit men. Those people poison the Right, and - whatever their temporary electoral effects - they serve to discredit us all.
"It isn't just that Corsi himself is a conspiracy theorist and a crank, or that his best-selling farrago of innuendo and outright smears exemplifies everything that's wrong with a certain sort of right-wing publishing, or that David Freddoso's The Case Against Barack Obama demonstrates that it's perfectly possible to write an anti-Obama book without descending into the fever swamps. It's that this is an election where conservatives need to be very, very conscious about the importance of line-drawing: If the Right is going to resist the ongoing attempts by Obamaphiles to define various sorts of normal political elbow-throwing (cutting ads making fun of Barack Obama's political style, calling attention to the controversial public utterances of Michelle Obama and Jeremiah Wright, etc.) as inherently racist and hatemongering, conservatives need to be very clear about where the line actually is, and what sort of attacks are actually beyond the pale and worth condemning."
Conservatism has been an intellectual home to people like Burke and Buckley. The GOP is the party that gave us Lincoln and Reagan. It seems to me that its leaders ought to make it clear that they find what Dr. Corsi is doing to be both wrong and repellent. To have their movement and their party associated with such a figure would be a terrible thing and it will only help the cause of those who hold both the GOP and the conservative movement in contempt.

Sort of a neutral topic, politically, and presented as information.
Even-handed treatment of the topic of North American Union (or the interlocutory "North American Community" Pastor keeps pushing).
Just curious, KS, why launch into this guy (who is probably unknown to most of the folks on this site - shoot, I had to think for a minute to dredge up his name)?
Just guessing...
Is he now some staff member for McCain?
PS: LOL, JON HENKE, the quintessential "neolibertarian", and appropriately enough running the Senate Republican (aka, neocon) info service, cited by KScoyote as a reliable source?
OK, I can see the point, purported "Conservatives" who disagree.
Corsi thinks the idea of a North American Union is a bad one (for instance), whereas Henke must pine for it (it being suppossedly a neocon project for so long).
Speaking as a Libertarian who WAS one before the party of the same name crawled out of the primordial political slime...
We don't need no stinking "neolibertarians".
I'm about "neo'd" out.
UPDATE: OF COURSE! Corsi just came out with that book about Obama! And Media Matters has been all over his case ever since.
The circle is made whole.

I haven't read his book (seems like a re-hash of all that has gone before, really, so I hadn't really PLANNED to read his book, anyway).
I doubt ANYONE on this site has read that book.
Just the punch line title, which again, I don't think was orignal to him (I've been seeing it used tauntingly in the blogs for almost a year now, though the spelling varies, "Obama Nation", "Obamination", etc.
A bumpersticker reaction to a bumpersticker attack against a bumpersticker campaign?
LOL, it WAS inevitable.

[quote] A panel of Democratic Party legal heavyweights speculated Jamie Gorelick, former deputy attorney general in the Clinton administration, could be appointed attorney general if Barack Obama were elected president. [quote]
OMG, she even LOOKS like Reno! Reno II, the Revenge!
Face to sour motor oil.
(AND check out that name guys, [shudder], the pictures that name brings up... Just remember, I DID NOT make this up, this woman really does exist and is a heavyweight with the Billary folks).
KS, you're right, I can see why the neolibertarians (whatever in hades they are) hate Corsi's guts.
Any man who would show that woman's picture in a public forum has no sense of fair play.
Lucky thing we all got used to Janet during the Clinton years, so we're mostly immune.
