Default Pakistan: The New Battleground?

Pakistan has responded to recent attacks by Taliban and Al Qaeda in Pakistan:

They have banned the Taliban, rejected another meaningless offer of "peace" from the terrorist groups, and intensified their efforts to erradicate them from Pakistan's Swat region.

AT&T=

Pakistan is also currently rather unstable politically (much wheeling and dealing going on between Bhutto's ruling party and minor parties to replace the shaky alliance currently running the government).

Musharraf's departure is another current event, although whethre this helps or hurts the situation is unclear.

It is getting interesting over there indeed. I would have less problems fighting in Pakistan than in Afghanistan. I just don't see any good end to ANY action in Afghanistan. History should not be ignored.... yet it seems to be, by all the politicians.

While Iraq may not have been a popular action, people need not confuse "popular" with being able to have a good outcome or less troop loss and less public funding.

The history of fighting has certainly never been good for the invaders in Afghanistan but we did defeat the Taliban in record time. Well, at least push them into Pakistan and rid the country of the regime. I used to fly into Jacobabad Pakistan and the local folks were certainly anti-US. That airfield was attacked by Taliban loyalists and our aircraft were constantly fired on. Not so sure Pakistan would be a better battleground.

I am not sure either actually, but it can't be any worse. Pushing these guys around is about all that will ever happen IMHO. And that being said I would rather they stay in ONE area and we just make sure they STAY there.
