Carville: This Convention Has No Message

On CNN this evening, Clintonista James Carville voiced his displeasure with tonight's proceedings as having no theme, no message.

"James Carville seems the least satisfied Democrat in here right now," noted CNN's Anderson Cooper. "What's going on James?"
"Well if this party has a message it has done a hell of a job of hiding it tonight I promise you that," Carville said.

"How do you mean?" asked the anchor. "You haven't heard about Iraq? You haven't heard about John McCain?"

"...George W. Bush, you haven't heard any of this," said Carville. "I mean we are a country that's borderline recession, 85% 80% wrong track country, people, health care, energy, I haven't heard anything about gas prices, I mean maybe we are going to look better Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday but right now like I say we are playing hide the message pretty good."

"David Gergen said this a short time ago, that in the first two hours what is the message?" said Cooper.

"And you know what? David didn't get to where he was in life because he's stupid He was exactly right. I look at this and I am about to jump out of my chair...There's no message coming out of here, there is no sense that the party has a sense of urgency, and we've only got four nights this is 25% of the whole thing."

He is not the only one. Every person I saw (on all the news networks) said the same thing.

I tuned in a few times but after about 5 minutes of listening (each time I did) I was so sick to my stomach that I had to change the channel. It is not that I "disagreed" with what was being said, but that it was truly sickening to listen to.

I watched part of the DNC last night . Have to say Hillary was on fire . Yeah , some parts of her speach was generic political smoke blowing some was quit excellent too . As I watched it , two things ran threw my mind . 1 ..... how much was she being paid for her speech 2 ..... would she have the guts to say --- vote hillary during roll call vote .

Just think , if Mc Cain was smart he would ask Hillary to be his VP . Yes they are different parties but she would push him over the top .

With Hillary as vice president there is one place the president will go.....an early grave. I’m sure it will be of natural causes…is perfectly natural to die when a knife is stuck in your back.

I have watches more of the convention..... and what I come away with is that nothing said there will change a single vote. It is a party among believers, not a tool for conversion. So why anyone cares what "message" is being put out, if any, is beyond me at this point. The "message" is as follows.... "We are running Obama and Biden. And we are having one heck of a party with little more than rhetoric and pats on the back."

This is however to be expected from the Republicans as well.

It is as it is. But votes don't get changed (IMHO) from these things. Would you change what team you are rooting for to win the Super Bowl by watching their Pre-Game rallies? And that is all these things are....
