Default The Trillion Dollar Trickle

Obama has unveiled a vague image of his proposed $trillion stimulus plan:

Barack Obama unveils $1 trillion economic stimulus package - Telegraph

First of all its important to put the "dire emergency" triggered by unemployment in perspective...

We have 6.7% unemployment now. I expect it to shoot up over 7% over the next few months...

It hovered around 7.1% during the salad days of the dot.com bubble under Clinton, but no one remembers that fact somehow.

Where were the trillion dollar stimulus packages back then?

If you listen to the left, those Clinton days were great, fantastic, a flowering of American economic success!

ROTFL.

Anyway, here are the details of this latest government boondoggle from Obama:

[quote]
The president-elect criticized Detroit's Big Three car manufacturers for "repeated strategic mistakes" and a "failure to adapt to changing times — building small cars and energy-efficient cars". [quote]

No doubt. Of course, the demand for big SUVs and pickup trucks is skyrocketing right now, so I guess the oil price bubble (now popped) just MIGHT have had a little bit to do with that...

Note that President-elect Obama is bottom line in favor of loaning billions to the auto-makers, so long as they do what he and Congress tells them to do.

Note the lack of detail in this article about precisely what his $trillion dollar stimulus will be "stimulating".

Still selling moonbeams and butterfly kisses, eh, Barry?

And don't forget that over 9 million new jobs were created between 2001 and 2007. As a matter of fact there were so many new jobs that the illegal immigrant problem became even more prevalent!
I remember when unemployment was around 11-12%!!

Default California Leads the Way...

...And I HOPE we don't follow!

LOL, the California Democrats have been watching with keen interest whether or not Obama could actually get away with winning power by twisting the English language into a pretzel, and you know what?

He did.

So now they are putting this successful new game plan into action:

[quote, Neal Boortz]...for months, the Republicans in California have blocked efforts to increase taxes.

Until now... the Democrats in the California legislature have decided that since they can't have their tax increases, they will just call them something else: "fees." By calling them "fees" rather than "taxes", there is a loophole in the law that will let the legislature increase "fees" with a simple majority vote - rather than the typical two-thirds. This is straight from the Barack Obama play book .. let's not call it "welfare" we'll call them "tax cuts"! You get the idea.

So these Democrats will be able to increase the state sales tax by three-fourths of a cent. Gas taxes will increase by 13.5 cents a gallon. There will be a 2.5% surcharge added to income taxes. New taxes will be aimed at the oil companies.

All of this .. because the Democrats can just change the language. [quote]

www.boortz.com click on Neals Nuze for the full article.

Note what the California legislature is doing. We can look for the Democrats now running Washington to follow suit:

1. When the last vestiges of Republican power in the Senate manage to block things the Democrats want to do, look for them to Change the rules. Closure votes? Just a simple majority.

2. "Tax Cuts" will indeed be pushed through for millions of Democrat-voting people who pay no taxes.

3. New "Fees" will be charged to the Left's hit list of industries they simply don't like, just as California is doing. Evil oil companies will head the list. Back door tax increases, er, new "fees", will swell the price of gasoline, diesel and heating oil while cheering throngs demand MORE punishment, er, new "fees", for oil companies (who promptly pass the increased cost downstream to us, of course).

4. Look for the Feds to emulate California by adding on a big new Federal fuel tax as well. This is one of those direct taxes that is well-hidden, buried in the total price at the pump, so its a popular tool for the Congress to pump in more vote buying taxes, er, "fees".

5. That 2.5% surcharge on income taxes looks very juicy to the Pelossi/Reid/Obama troika. Obama already promised a similar tax hike to everyone earning either $250k or $200k or $150k or $125k per year (no one is quite sure), though small businesses who have little access to capital gains other than through death will get a quixotic capital gains tax break for some reason... Maybe that is meant to soften the blow when the Bush tax cuts (actual, real tax cuts that save EVERYONE currently paying taxes a nice chunk of change) are allowed to expire and the Death Tax makes a big comeback.

Yep. Words are powerful things. Now that "tax cuts" don't exist (as we once knew them) anymore, the drip, drip, drip of Chinese torture twisting the English language will accelerate.

Someone start a scoresheet and take notes. The dictionaries are all obsolete.

Why can't geologists be right for once and let California fall off into the ocean?

Great article by Newt today:

Big Government Breeds Big Corruption - HUMAN EVENTS

“When Buying and Selling are Controlled by Legislation, the First Things to be Bought and Sold are Legislators.”

Brilliant. Add that one to your list of quotes, and compare it to past and future events.

OK, here comes the "other shoe" hitting the floor. SOME of the smarter Dems have realized that running trillions of dollars in budget deficits into the 22nd century just MIGHT get noticed (you can only sweep so much under the friendly media carpet, after all)...

TheHill.com - Conrad open to energy taxes for healthcare

So now we have "Deficit Reduction" plans that will be built into the budget, to 'fix" those naughty trillion dollar minus signs.

"Great! Glad to know that someone is using their noggin!" might be your initial reaction until you remember what administration it is, and whip out your "Obama Dictionary of the English Language".

Lessee here, "Deficit Reduction", hmmm, yes, that SEEMS like a good thing, but what it really means is...

Trillions of dollars in new Tax Increases!

OK, whip out the score card, trying to keep current with all the new 1984 politico-speak...

Fine. "Deficit Reduction" = "Tax Increase".

And just for starters, they are looking at $600billion per YEAR in new energy taxes. Gulp. That would be another $3-4000 per working American.

And we're not even LOOKING at all the hidden stuff, OR the direct income tax increases, nor even the phony "soak the rich" plan.

Handy, that "Obama Dictionary of the English Language". Just hard to keep it up to date with all the new developments, though.

3-4 grand here, 10 grand there, 1-2 grand over yonder.

I'm a hair's breadth from saying screw modern living, I'd rather provide completely for myself and not pay a dime in taxes except sales taxes.

Default Cig Tax

I hate to break it to the group, but some of those hidden "gotchas" are already starting to hit Americans in the pocket book...

Today, the Feds TRIPLED tobacco taxes. More than a dollar per pack, now.

But of course, this and all other Obama taxes will ONLY hit RICH people...

He PROMISED.

I don't smoke, or use tobacco, so I'm obviously not the expert here, but correct me if I'm wrong, but I CLEARLY recall seeing people buying cigarettes who didn't LOOK very rich!

When they triple the gas taxes, maybe it will occur to folks that they REALLY need to pay attention to who (exactly) they believe next time around.

But dontcha know...with these new taxes, only rich people can afford cigarettes. That's one of the big reasons I'm quitting.

Good for you!

Now, if only I could come up with a plan to quit driving...

Imagine the price of gas after Obama triples the gasoline tax, AND hits the oil companies with new taxes, and the retailers with new taxes, AND oil starts to go back up in price...

We could be looking at $7 per gallon in no time, with about $4 in taxes!
