4 Israeli brigades are inside Gaza. This is a good overview article for now.
I'm surprised that the casualties so far are so low, but I am also distrustful of such numbers at this juncture, given that they may be under-reported until the level of fighting subsides.
VERY interesting piece detailing the infighting going on between Fatah and Hamas:
[quote] Hamas militiamen had been assaulting many Fatah activists since the beginning of the operation last Saturday. They said at least 75 activists were shot in the legs while others had their hands broken. [quote]
No love lost between the two main Palestinian leadership groups, eh?

Israel might be trying to finish the Palestinian aggression once and for all and it's about time!
Remember that Jessie Jackson was at a meeting, in Europe I believe, and publicly stated the 'Zionist will have less influence [on US policy] if Obama is elected.
The US has not condemned Israel for their actions but after Obama is anointed...er...sworn in....this might change.
There is considerable public outcry going on in the US against this and if the US were to cut off aid, both military and political it would be a disaster.
Sadly the national media suppresses the random rocket fire into Israel....page 10...and when they take out the launchers, which are in civilian areas btw, and a few deaths result it's front page news.
This has gone on for decades and has resulted in a mis-informed American Public.
Israel is our greatest ally in the 'war on terror.'

Word! I agree with you entirely.

I to agree with you. Wonder what roll we will have in all of this.

Of course Obama will denounce Israel's actions. Just look at his anti-Israel buddies he was associated with during the election.
We may have public outcry over this, but we need to keep our noses out of it. We have no dog in this fight, stay on the porch and provide humanitarian and medical aid once the shooting has stopped.

- Ronald Reagan
"Bradley Burston has an interesting take on this: he explains that Rayyan firmly believed that whatever Israel did to Hamas, Hamas would win: "If you kill us, we will become martyrs, the most beloved of God and the Palestinian people, and we will win. If you refrain from killing us, whether from fear or political expedience or moral considerations, we have only cemented our victory."
Rayyan devoted his life to teaching hatred and preaching hatred and glorifying the violent death that is courted in the pursuit of this hatred. This is what Hamas, this is what Islamism stands for. Those who accuse Israel of using "disproportionate force" against Hamas would do well to acknowledge this instead of lending indirect support to people like Rayyan by pretending that somehow - if Israel only tried hard enough and was willing to make enough concessions - such people could be cajoled into "moderation" and peaceful coexistence."
Thats why I believe that these people do not understand reason, they do not feel pitty, or remorse, no sence of shame. Only Pain and hate are the ONLY things the palistinans observe...in a way there not even human anymore. I gladly back Israel without a second thought. Wipe palistine off as a race and see if I care.

John Bolton has an excellent suggestion I've not seen put on the table in quite a while - to take advantage of the current disaster and create a "3 State Solution".
In this case, the plan would recognize the obvious - that the PLO has disintergrated, and the experiment at creating a Palestinian State under their leadership has utterly failed.
By discarding the failed PLO-centric idea, it becomes possible to merge the disputed Gaza BACK to Egypt (from whence it came). Egypt already receives immense support from the United States, and if the 22 member Arab League and the rest of the West got behind the idea, it would go a long way toward solving THAT problem.
Jordan would be offered most of the West Bank, and since they would be doing us ALL a big favor by taking it, the new coalition would support them, too.
I consider this a GREAT idea. The closest thing to a common sense solution I have seen applied to this bleeding cancer on humanity.

You forget one big thing.... then how could they claim to justify their outright hatred of Jews? What excuse would they use then to continue their terrorism and goal of removing Jews from the face of the earth?
This entire issue has little to nothing to do with actual territory or who "owns" what. It has to do with a blind hatred of Jews, and this has been the case from the time of recorded history of the Middle East... and probably even before that.

OH, this would NOT alter the basic myth of the Palestinians.
But the new guys in charge (Jordan and Egypt) have a long history of successfully handling the Palestinian problem. Its a LOT tougher on the Palestinians, but hey, they EARNED it.
Its important to remember that Egypt and Jordan agreed long ago to the existance (and more importantly, the peaceful co-existance) of Israel. As powerful muslim states with effective national security forces of their own, they know how to handle rabble like Hamas.
When Jordan's army wiped out 50,000 Palestinians and booted the rest out of their country, the rest of the Arab world just applauded. Same thing with Egypt when THEY ran Gaza. Unlike Israel, they handled street riots with armored vehicles and machine guns, not rubber bullets and hand wringing.

I want say anything just checks the following links:
i really respect the American people but simply they miss guiding you.
And regarding Jordan, how told you this stupid story I am Palestinian and I still live in Jordan and we all respect king of Jordan. For your information 60% of the Jordanian population is from Palestine.
Why Palestinian people live in Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. Why not on there land (Palestine).
