No doubt a war caused by Israel defending itself from terrorists would lead to more violence. I don't think anyone would, or is, arguing against that. The thing being discussed, and is in dissagreement, is who is at fault and who is the "victim".
As for taking a lesson from the Iraq war, what does that mean? It seems to me that folks disliked the US before that happened, and they will dislike the US long after it is over. Is Hussein still in power? No? Interesting.
Now it can be debated if the war will indeed bring lasting stability to the region, or if the Iraqi people WANT or are READY for a Democratic government, but that is a totally different debate. Heck, I have long said that for a Democracy to work it must be EARNED and WANTED by the people, not given to them. I don't think the Iraqi people can handle a Democracy, nor will it be the best thing for them for many reasons.
