Election night results are coming in. Christie has a 50% vote in NJ to the incumbent's 42% vote. The GOP has also won in Va.
Obama better recognise this for precisely what it is. It's a referendum on his ideology and his policy. Those to bellweather states don't like it. If he's smart, we'll see some 'change' away from the path he's pvaed so far.

Acorn will not be happy. Of course they will just brush this off.
With Virginia and it's coal, I can easily see why this would have happened. Nip cap and trade in the bud.

I'm not incredibly surprised about Virginia. The liberals are fairly well concentrated in the Northern Virginia area around DC. The rest of the state is somewhat apathetic, or at least they were until the past few months.
New Jersey is the big surprise to me. They've been perennial no-brainers for the Democrats. All they had to do was present a candidate with a pulse to win. Now Christie has won NJ. Obama had better listen up. He's not in Kansas anymore.

I'm dissappointed the the Republican lost in New York. That further proves my thoughts about that state..

I am curious about what your thoughts are but I wanted to point out that the Republican candidate was forced out of the race before the election by her own party, who then backed a third-party candidate running on the Conservative ticket. Apparently local Republicans thought she was too liberal because she supported the right to choose, among other things. The Conservative candidate lost to the Democrat. This is not surprising, to me at any rate, because third party candidates generally have a very tough time getting elected in New York.
I guess everytrhing I've heard in the past few years about the Republican Party wanting to be more inclusive and accepting of a wider range of views is just a load of elephant dung.

Oh, puleease. Get a clue. The RINO that was originally on the ticket is a liberal. Hoffman came onto the scene less than a month ago. Prior to that, no one had ever heard of him. For him to make this a close race is in itself a victory of sorts given the fact that the RINO endorsed the Dem after she dropped out. And as for your comment about being an inclusive party, the GOP has been the more inclusive party for decades. Look at the current congress. They are in complete control, yet refuse to hear any alternative opinions on the big issues, much less have a debate on them. There are more high profile names in the GOP with opinions on issues that do not tow the party line than on the other side. Do some research on it.

I don't pay any attnetion to any of that horse puckey. My party should be a bunch of Ronald Reagan clones running around looking for ways to return us to the top of the food chain, strengthen our military, cut useless spending, and rid the country of corruption in public offices. They should support the constitution, and the bill of rights. They should cut taxes for everyone, which is a stimulus in itself. They should smack down the unions that are killing the American Manufacturing industry by providing incentives for corporations to move their facilites to Right to Work states.
If that means including or not including someone who feels one way or the other on abortion, I don't care.

I think JEB just proved my point.

I don't choose the candidates for that district. I can only vote on candidates presented to me. I am quite a far right person, and I am very partisan. The only Democrat I ever voted for was Edwin Edwards when he ran against David Duke.
Voting for third party candidates only gets Dems elected. Looking at the state of the country right now, I don't find that to be a good thing.
The Marxist principles pushed on us by Obamessiah and the rest of the Kool-Aid drinkers are killing this country.
While I fully support going to war to protect our interests and needed resources, we have to fight to win. But, we cannot fund the war, and all the social programs and bailouts of failing corporations. Obamessiah is trying to do that. Not going to work. We are bankrupt, the dollar is dying, the economy is sufferring, and there is no end in sight.
Deficit spending can be done for a short time, but it has to stop at some point. Raising taxes right now to make up the revenue is going to backfire for the economy, it's too bad right now to do that. Matter of fact, it was proven in the past several times that lowering taxes during a down economy will turn it around. The Dems are not going to go for that because they would not be able to follow the Marxist way and redistribute the wealth. They would rather bankrupt us right now than do what the country needs.
Stop the corporate bailouts.
Cut social programs.
Cut foreign aid.
Place tariffs on imports.
Cut taxes on ALL Americans.
Give monetary incentives to industry to move to Right to work states by way of tax exemptions.
And lastly:
Either fight to win the war, or pull the troops out. Don't dilly dally.
This little election cycle is hopefully a prelude to what's coming next year. Hopefully we'll see a return of the Republican party to power, and hopefully the ones that get elected will be much closer to the Reagan Model Republican that I look for in every vote. Unfortunately, there have been very few Reaganites presented lately. It seems that many have forgotten what a tremendous success Reaganism was.

Point of order, JEB, but the Republican dropped out a few days ago and endorsed the Democrat!
The "Conservative" lost, though.
Probably BECAUSE of the scuzzy (or whatever her name was) Republican candidate.
I have been talking to some Republicans up in New York, and the Republican committee over that district's selection process is out. Period. No excuses, Scuzzy should NEVER have been in the position to sell out her slot to the Democrats.
Perhaps this will be useful for the Republicans elsewhere - that they need to realize that they actually DO have a chance to win this year in hitherto "you-must-be-joking" districts like the NY 23rd. Putting some wacko in there will NOT do - they need to focus on their very important job beating the bushes for good candidates, selecting them, and then drumming up the support needed to elect them.
NO districs should be gimmes this year. If they make the Democrats fight to retain even the past sinecure slots like those held by Waxman or Pelossi, the outcome could be dramatic.
"FULL COURT PRESS" should be the rallying cry...
Of course, we Libertarian types can only sit on the sidelines and wonder at the wackiness of it all.
The Dems IN power are banding together behind Hellcare and Crap'n'Tax, and stampeding themselves straight down Lemming Boulevard into the Atlantic Ocean...
While the Republicans are still trying to decide what a "Republican" really is, and even when in severe doubt, putting them up for elected office!
Oh, this gives me SUCH a grok-ache!

The Democrat may have won that spot but the election as a whole should serve as a massive wake up call for the GOP in that area. The voters are PO'd about the state of affairs and are looking elsewhere for representation. I was astounded that the Conservative party candidate got as many votes as he did honestly. For him to get 45% of the vote as a third party candidate in a district that the GOP has held for over a century is amazing.

If there was any doubt, there is none now, you are so far left you are in Obama’s left hip pocket!
“inclusive and accepting” give me a break if you didn’t notice the Republican party ran a Democrat for president in the last TWO elections.

No, in the first election he campaigned as a conservative, talked of smaller government, and responsible spending……… so although we voted for a Republican after Sep 11 we got a Democrat…ok a Democrat will balls but a Democrat none the less.
