Major Malik Nadal Hasan (now dead, shot down in a gun battle with police, which included the death of one officer, ALSO a great tragedy), plus what looks like 2 "accomplices".
Sigh.
I just did a show at the Moody AFB outside Valdosta, Georgia.
Saw and talked with lots of good Air Force troops.
The only folks I saw under arms were the civilian security at the main gate.
Ironic that now college campuses and military bases share something else in common...
Lots of unarmed young people living and working in a "zero tolerance" environment.
I don't know, I think I'm just distraught over this. I feel about my troops like their were all my own kids.

A very sad day, we let those soldiers down. When they are here its OUR job to provide THEIR safety.

That hunk of junk? Yeah, well I've made a few special modifications to that yellow 99 Gt, it makes the Kessel run in 12 parsecs and eats turbo japs and poops chevy's
This is truly a sad day. As a veteran i can only pray that they will find out what really happened. There is so much stress in the life of military personnel that this just puts the whole base on edge.
Thoughts and prayers to all who are affected by this.
The press and others are dancing around the fact that this guy was a muslim and this is a terrorist act.
Political correctness is killing us.
I remember when it first came on the news report, the radio announcer hesitated, then read the headline, and then hesitate, and I kept thinking, "Say the name, say the name, you can't hide it forever, what is it, Muhammed, Akhmed, Mustafa..."
"Major Malik Hasan".
Yep.

i think many american Muslim solders fighting in Iraq since most of them can talk Arabic language, many times see american solders talking Arabic fluently with Iraqis on TV.
i think Gen. John Abizaid (Commander, US Central Command) his an Arab guy
They say he did not want to deploy to Iraq,,, So what? All the clown had to do was resign his commission. This guy had other motives and the press including FOX news are all dancing around it. Shep Smith has a hard time saying his name.

XM,
An armed man is called a citizen.A disarmed man is called a subject.

It's only a gun free zone until someone decides to bring a gun. I'm so glad I went armed to my daughter's choral presentation tonight at my local "gun free" high school. Nobody was any the wiser but they were all much safer. I'm sure no one at Fort Hood would have suspected anything like this would ever happen. We need to take an Israeli approach to self preservation else the wolves will eat us. I agree the liberal political correctness mindset is the most dangerous thing we face. A billion terrorist can't produce the havoc this cultural destroying behaviorhas had on the United States.

Various news outlets report Maj Hasan was born in VA to parents who were born in Jordan. He was never married.
He was reported to have a poor Officer Evaluation Report when he was at Walter Reed where he was stationed for 6 years until his transfer to Ft Hood. He was never deployed. News sources say he was a pious lifeong Muslim according to his cousin.
What caused this US-born military psychiatrist to snap and go on a killing rampage is anyones guess. What is a very hard to understand is how a person who made the rank of Major could frag his own brothers in uniform. If it was a terrorist from outside I would be able to understand it better.
