Default How do I get in on this deal??

The idiot Republicans are agreeing to a 13 MONTH?? OMG!! extension of unemployment benefits which means you can sit home watching Oprah & collecting 450 bucks a week for 3 YEARS!! I need to get fired so I can get me some of this. Where I live in N.E. Ohio that's a decent wage & you can live quite well on that.

Of course China will be funding this. I see Republicans are going to continue the spending spree.

I dunno man, this is the lame duck session. The new electees have yet to be sworn in. They won the extension of the Bush tax cuts with nothing more than short handed rhetoric. It's still a little early to tell what's going to happen.

That's siimply the generic daytime talk show reference. When you mention Oprah you immediately picture those deadbeats on welfare, lying on the couch, watching daytime TV, stuffing their face with bon-bons, while productive people work for a living.

3 years of unemployment checks has become the new Welfare program.

One third of all people on unemployment find work within 30 days of their benefits ending. 82% find work within 60 days of their unemployment ending.

People don't start looking till the end of their benefits in a lot of cases.

I have a friend that has been unemployed for almost 2 years. His benefits ran out in the middle of November. He was waiting to see if his benefits would get extended and has since found 3 jobs, all of which he feels are beneath him but will take to keep money flowing in.

As long as unemployment pays your bills, most have no incentive to find work. As long as welfare covers your needs there is no incentive to do anything else.

We need to shorten the benefit time for unemployment and we need to put a lifetime limit on welfare and any type of public assistance. 5 years max for welfare. 3 months full un employment, 3 months 75% unemployment, 3 months at 50 % and 3 months at 25 %.

I have 3 friends that were looking for jobs due to retiring from the Army and all 3 had jobs locked in prior to retiring. I think it comes down to what people feel is beneth them or not. 3 years is crazy and just another buy the vote move.

I'm so old that I remember unemployment only lasting 12 weeks & there was no chance of a 13th. You found a job quick or you were screwed. Welfare was fixed till Obama got to screw it up because it was unfair to the lazy 5th generation Welfare to have to get a job.

I've seen those stats about the ability to find a job too & it's easy to understand them. I can pay both of my mortgages, buy food & pay my bills on 1800 a month. I wish I could take 3 years off to spend time with my kids & tinker in the garage instead of having to work like a dog.

The problem I have is I'm an independent contractor so I don't have hospitalization, unemployment or workers comp to scam so I make sure I'm employed & employable at all times. If everyone did it my way there would be no unemloyment.

The Military is hiring, we have plenty of job openings. I forgot most of those people would rather ride the system than serve their country.

Well, see, you speak English, and are coming across the wrong border, so no free ride for you, you'll integrate into our society too easily.

It's the everyone's a winner BS that gets pushed at our kids. They don't want anyone to feel like someone is better at something than someone else is, so every one gets the same trophy. There is nothing special for trying harder and doing better, well except with taxes then you get something extra (more of your money taken). It's ok to fail and not try harder because you will get something anyway.

competition is the way to survive, always has been and always will....and when you try to stomp that out of the kids in school by taking away the incentives to compete they will end up losers later in life
