The lawyers have a marked impact on the costs of the infrastructure, ie, class action lawsuits that target entire industries (drugs, hospital chains, equipment manufacturers, etc.). The class actions yield huge hits to these entities (and their insurers, of course) while netting piddling little amounts to the victims.

The only winners are often the lawyers in these things.

Here in CT, they wanted to give illegal aliens library cards. Even though they didn't pay taxes, they are somehow entitled to use the public library...
