Also, you have to account for water, and the resultant corrosion, which forms under the compression of air.

As P.T. Barnum once said,"there is a sucker born every minuet". Until someone can come up with a engine that is as efficent and reliable and affordable as an internal combustion engine, I will listen.
As far as global warming goes, follow the money trail! Companies like BP,ADM,GE and others are seeing a way to make millions of all these suckers, in a way I dont blame them at all. Stupid people deserve what they get.

Good point. Its the difference between a "sentence" and a "sentience". KNOWING whats up, and truly appreciating just how bad the rape really is.
Its why I participate in discussions on this topic. Our only hope is to communicate the fact that at least SOME of us are aware of what's at stake (and care about it) to our national leadership.
Emails to Congress and phone calls to our representatives are fine - but unless public discussions are widely held and debated, these communiques are often too little to make a dent in the massively hidebound Washington bureaucracy.
I consider environmental issues a crucually important topic...
Unfortunately, Global Warming is NOT being treated as such, but as the ultimate weapon in the planetary class wars.
It is the single most dangerous threat to our civilization since Spain was conquered by the Muslims and Attilla the Hun conquered most of Eastern Europe.
The fact that few people understand this is sad.

One of the biggest problems facing the warriors in the carbon wars is the reality that power generation HAS to come from somehwere!
And this is pitting one group of environmental activists against another.
The most often cited source for carbon-free power is hydro-electric, but it has the environmental downside of wiping out habitat for species of fish and waterfowl, while destroying an entire class of natural eco-sphere. The numbers of major rivers NOT already generating power is relatively small, as well, so the needed capacity simply isn't there.
Fossil fuels (including oil, coal and natural gas) all produce large amounts of CO2...
Then there's Nuclear Power...
It emits no CO2 to speak of - or other greenhouse gases - and its a mature technology widely used safely around the planet...
But it DOES have a problem with disposal of long-term radioactive wastes (though again, these problems have been solved elsewhere).
As I predicted in the beginning, Global Warming will dominate the lesser (and more genuine) environmental concerns.
The insistance by the extremists that the problems are small and easily handled are merely a subterfuge to get the GW camel's nose under our civilization's tent.

Global warming is probably just their excuse to kill a bunch of us (non mega rich, non ivy league, useless eaters) off.
If you believe the conspiracy theorists, there are already fema/concentration camps ready and waiting. They have railroad tracks leading to them. Also, a bunch of railroad cars have been manufactured complete with restraints.
Sounds like a page out of hitler's book...

Nuclear plants also discharge warm water which is a problem with the fishies too.
I got to go water my carbon beets.

You're referring to the ones that actually use a large body of water for cooling. Many use cooling towers which are closed loops systems and don't discharge any water to the environment. When a power plant uses a body of water, that body of water most likely exists because of the power plant in the first place, so any fishies that are affected should just be happy they have a place to swim around. Then there are the NRC requirements for heat dissipation that ensure water temperatures are kept within a certain tolerance.

The main problem with warm water hurting fish populations has to do with a single, excruciatingly minor (and rare) species, the snail darter. TVA shut down a $6billion nuke facility to avoid killing some of these inch long fish.
Most of the time, the slight increase in water outflow stimulates the local eco-system (and would have done so in the case of the snail darter, EXCEPT for the snail darter, which was not a key player in the local river's ecology at any time anyway).
Newer nuclear plant designs (keep in mind, we haven't built any new ones in almost 20 years) are able to control the temps of their water outflow, essentially matching that of the natural downstream conditions.
Of course, the mindless, huge negative press for nuclear power plants in this country is now so engrained that its probably impossible to shift us from our current path of building one coal fired plant after another. The brief flirtation with changing over to natural gas has floundered, after driving prices up 300% and creating shortages our existing pipeline systems cannot overcome. For that matter, running a huge new network of NG pipelines all over the country would have a HUGE environmental impact in and of itself.

I find it amazing how we are going down the Ethenol road with no regards for the consequinces, we are now going to burn our food for a inefficient fuel that was dropped 75 years ago. And as far as hydrogen goes, well does the "Hindenberg" ring a bell??

I bought 10% enthenol gas for the mower. It would not run! I had to go buy octane boost to get it to run.
GLOBLE WARMING On one side you got a group that is getting gov. funds to prove that it exist; on the other side you got a group that is getting gov. funds to prove that it is bogis. And the politicans are using it to buy votes. Some poeple don't under stand how politics really works. Once they get in office and get a tast of washington kool ade power they don't want to give it up. Look at the clintons they scare me. We need less gov. More gov. = less freedom.
Whenever I hear of GLobal Warming I think of Gore. This brings to mind that Al Gore III was popped early this morning in San Diego for pot possession when he was stopped for speeding at 100 mph . . . in a Prius.
