Stan, thank you for posting! I have to mention - I went shoe shopping this past weekend.... HA, good luck finding shoes made in the USA - I'll have to check these links out closely! Thanks again!
If your looking for a great pair of work boots or just a good general boot check out the Justin boots, made in Fort Worth TX, I have worn them for years and they are just as comfortable as a tennis shoe.

I always try to buy American. I think that it just plain wrong that we are supporting countries like china that are communism and go completely against what the American people believe.
I would rather pay hard working Americans rather than a country that I myself completely disagree with what they stand for. Sure I'll be paying more for those new Boots I buy, or those Jeans, but I'll be supporting people I believe in, not a country that goes against everything.
I think that it is great they have finally brought up this issue and made a definite point, WE ARE SUPPORTING A UNETHICAL COUNTRY!
Now China is not the only one, there are countless others that we buy products from. I think that Jeans should be made in America, it's sick if there made in china, etc. Some things just need to stay made in America, like, would you buy a hamburger or a hot dog in China? I sure wouldn't. I have nothing against the People in China just against what they stand for. And like I said I am using China as a major example, there are others that are the exact same. I think that the people are nice and friendly, I like everyone the same. It is just the country of China, etc, that I don’t like.
Bottom line: I believe we should buy American considering we are in fact AMERICANS. Does Turkey buy Jeeps and fords? The answer is no. Why? I have no idea but that’s not the issue.
Anyways, I think I made my point pretty clear. I think. I might have got carried away.
I won't beat around the bush. I have everything against China. They're using sweat shop labor, which by our ethics is wrong. They are the last of the major Communist states, which by my ethics is wrong. They don't have control over their manufacturing like we do, which has lead to how many recalls over the past 2-3 months which put people at risk, which by my ethics is wrong. They potty train their kids by letting them poop and pee where ever they want to, which is just disgusting, and therefore wrong.
So what's right with China?? Why do they repeatedly retain 'most favored trade' status??
The big question for me is when the hell is the rest of the country going to start caring about where stuff is made enough to take action on it?

There are a few places on the planet worse than China, but they are few and far between.

Yes. Where's the famous Chinese government trade barriers when you need them?
Its wild to see the last major Communist country on earth also housing the most out-there, science fiction plot, evil capitalist enterprise around. Its a Bond episode.

I think some of the other asian countries make hard drives. South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan and so on.
Can't say aobut memory sticks. I avoid Sony products (long story - has to do with a nasty book Mr. Sony wrote decades ago), but I'll check to see what I can find.
Samsung is a South Korean company who produces hard drives in South Korea. They also produce most brands of flash drives there, though I didn't see a listing that they were licensing the Memory Stick products from Sony.
Yea, but my underlying point remains the same... You will not find one made in the USA at any price.

I think that is probably right. In that case, avoid the Chinese models, and given that South Korea just opened their markets to us, I'd give them a look first. I'd probably look at the Japanese last, and everyone else in between. The list of FTA (free trade agreement) nations is petty extensive, and includes some that make electronics.
Obviously, not all products are (or for that matter, ever were) made in the U.S.A. The backup plan is to at least avoid our outright enemies.
