Movie isn't out yet... The website is online, and a date got stamped on it: March 28th.

Some people here are already commenting how close that is to April 1st...

If the movie exists, I want to see it. If it doesn't, it'll be the best hoax in ages stomping down the fact that there is an inherent problem with the world.

Default Islamic Women: Oppressed by Oil, not Islaamic Law

[quote, Neal Boortz} A professor at UCLA has really outdone himself. Political science professor Michael Ross has released a study concluding that women in the Middle East are not oppressed because of their Islamic religion. Nope. They are oppressed because of oil. According to Ross, the oil boom puts more men than women in the workplace and decrease women's political representation. Because of this, oil-producing states have stronger patriarchal norms, laws and governments.

In other words, "gender inequality" has nothing to do with the peaceful, serene religion of Islam. The religion that blocks young school girls from leaving burning buildings because they aren't wearing their headscarves is not to blame. The religion that justifies the beating of your wife is innocent. The religion that forces young girls into marriages isn't the problem. Nope. Islam has absolutely nothing to do with it. It must be the evil wealth that is gained by being an oil producing country. In fact, this guy goes as far to say that "changes in global energy markets could ultimately influence the status of women in dozens of oil producing countries." Reading between the lines: stop producing oil, otherwise women will continue to be marginalized.

Do you know why these fools spend their lives teaching in universities? Because they couldn't survive in the private sector .. that's why. [quote]

I'd bet big money he's listed somewhere as a "concerned scientist" supporting the "world consensus of scientists who support Global Warming".

The fact that he's obviously also an absolute moron would never enter into the Who's Who entry.

I can understand that Islam at it's basics might not be a 'bad' religion perse. The fact however that nowadays the terrorism is basically stating 'radical Islam' makes the whole religion a bad one in a lot of peoples books. And what doesn't help is the fact that the 'true followers of Islam' as they call themselves do not oppose the radical islamists.

Looking at that video the thought of 'brainwashing' comes to mind... Scary.

Great... For some reason the forum streaming of the movie still works... However... if you access the movie on the LiveLeak site directly, you get a LiveLeak movie instead:

Quote:
The removal of "Fitna" - LiveLeak Official statement

Following threaths to our staff of a very serious nature, and some ill informed reports from certain corners of the British medai that could directly affect the safety of some staff members, LiveLeak has been left with no other choice but to remove Fitna from our servers.

This is a sad day fpr freedom of speech on the net but we have to place the safety and well being of our staff above all else. We would like to thank the thousands of people, from all backgrounds and religions who gave us their support. They realised LiveLeak.com is a vehicle for many opinions and not just for the support of one.

Perhaps there is still hope that this situation may produce a discussion that could benefit and educate all of us as to how we can accept one anothers culture.

We stood for what we believe in, the ability to be heard, but in the end the price was too high.

LiveLeak.com
So appearantly it got pulled... Frankly, it's sure to be out there somewhere on the Internet. I know I have both versions on HDD.

Sofar I've heard that Iran, Jordan and Indonesia are appearantly planning on boycotting the Netherlands... Other then that it's been quiet on the islamic nations front.

From the non-islamic side I've heard three people that feel they've been slighted: Kurt Westergaard (danish cartoonist) for using his cartoon without approval, Salah Edin (rapper) who is depicted as being Mohammed B. (murderer of Theo van Gogh), and Robbie Muntz who can be heard as he's interviewing Theo van Gogh (also without his approval).

Personally, I found the movie pretty straightforward in showing facts.

Looks like "LiveLeak" needs to change their name to "PamperLeak".

Wimps.

LOL, and for CERTAIN, the movie will be out there on the internet somewhere. I'll poke around and find it when I have some time.

So, let me get this straight, some Dutch guy comes up with a movie about some of the underpinnings of i slam, and entire muslim countries decide to boycott the Netherlands?

Wow, what a fantastic side-effect!

I sure hope some American dude does us the same favor. With any luck, muslim countries EVERYWHERE will do the same for us!

Default Fitna

Well, the "Fitna" movie is having a hard time finding any internet organization with the stones to actually carry it:

Domain temporarily unavailable

Now NETWORK SOLUTIONS, the craven cowards, have pulled the entire site.

Check out their OTHER offerings, including plenty of America hating, S&M, slasher/snuff stuff, nazi apologists and various OVERT terrorist sites proposing death to all Americans, death to all Jews, etc, etc...

Y'know, there was a time when the liberty of free people was considered sacrosanct...

This current crop of "journalists" aren't fit to carry an imam's "Death to the Great Satan" carboard sign.

Network Solutions Host Extreme Islam Sites - Surprised ? - Reader comments at DanielPipes.org

OK, found a link to the movie that should work:

I spotted it on YouTube already... Al like I said... I have a local copy of the FLV file so I could potentially upload it somewhere or something :P

All the movie is, is just basically simple cut/paste work where parts of the Quran are quoted and lined with images of terrorism done in the name of Islam. Think 9/11, the bombings of the trains in Madrid, the hostages in Iraq.

In essence, it's nothing more then facts from the Quran itself, and factual images from newsprograms. As such there is NOTHING that could offend, because it hasn't offended previously when the initial newsbroadcast was made. However, since the movie depicts a 'one-sided' view as Islam being a terroristic religion, this in itself is sufficient to cause a cry for boycotting. Al-Queda even seems to have responded that the movie depicts _exactly_ what they believe and thus is very good promotional material.

With all the terroristic actions going on and the muslim world staying mostly quiet about it, only to cry 'wolf' when something is said that offends their belief (like beheading a hostage doesn't do that). In essence they're quietly allowing their faith to be seen as a terroristic faith. They'll only cry out if you voice that thought, and not say anything when something is done in the name of Islam that is considered terroristic. So should I take them seriously?

Seems some other dutch guy (ex Muslim) is also making a cartoon/movie about Islam. However, while Geert Wilders sticks to facts mostly, this guy (Ehsan Jami) seems to be primarily focussed on offending. His movie is due the 20th of April BTW. Fitna appearantly is simmering, and may or may not cause an outburst. That other movie however is pretty certain to make an impact, and as such the same has happened to that producer: the government asked him to forego the release of the movie.

It kind of reminds me of 'The Passion of the Christ' that the Vatican would like to have banned, but which is now normally available anywhere. Same with 'Life of Brian'. Those just feature the christian faith. But make a similar movie about the islamic faith and the world is too small a place.

Quote:
Well, the "Fitna" movie is having a hard time finding any internet organization with the stones to actually carry it:
It's been like that for a while already. Heck... they did that already the 22nd of March. When the movie wasn't even out yet. So the site got pulled on what MIGHT have been shown due to complaints. That's the first time ever that an ISP has done something like that. And some people are worrying about that as a development.

As to the response from the dutch government on the movie: Our prime minister thanked the Muslim community for keeping their cool. He also started the dutch government 'rejects the statement the movie makes by putting Islam as an equal to terroristic actions. This movie has no other goal then to offend people'. Most of the government follows that statement. Even worse... the rest of Europe is appearantly unanimous with the dutch government in condemning the movie.

Lets review that... Thank you for keeping your cool. They live in the Netherlands, they abide by dutch values. As such there is NO other way then keeping your cool to respond to the movie. Yet they're thanked for abiding by dutch standards. omehow I don't see this happening when an 'anti'christian movie would've been released. Our prime minister thanking the nation for keeping their cool.

As stated, I see nothing but reality in it, and while it may be a one sided view, it is still reality. But it seems most politicians prefer to talk about the amaturistic way the movie was done, and it's errors (certain other follow-up verses not being quoted, wrong pictures, the cartoons, the wrong numbers depicted), instead of the contents of the movie. Which get discarded as 'we've seen that already, not important'. No, what is important is the fact that the movie is very amaturistic. This just results in one view for me: our government has no spine, and nor does the rest of the EU governments appearantly. They are just trying to keep the peace, and thus are probably scared to voice their real opinion. The line between state and church (or politics and belief if you will) has blurred here. Belief is starting to influence politics, and as such starts toppling over the fundamental properties we've lived by for so long.

And while the Old Testament in the Bible also heralds of such texts as the Quran (or even the Torah as used in the AEL movie), the fact is that the followers of these faiths have outgrown the literal meaning of the words, and do not directly act upon them. I understood that Islam knows two kinds of people: believers and infidels. What separates them (according to the Quran) is the way they literally interpret the Quran into their lifestyle. If you follow the Quran loosely, you are considered an infidel. In that light most Muslims that consider themselves believers are in reality infidels and according to the Quran should be treated as such.

The Arab European League has launched a counter movie against Fitna: Almouftinoun

In my case, actions speak louder then words... and Wilders has yet to blow up someone, behead someone, hijack a plane, or call for the death of people.
