Default Hello all new to the site with 1988 mustang overheating problems

Hello all I'm new to the site and I think i just figured out how to post a thread. I have a 2000 Ford Lightning and a 1988 GT that I just bought a few months ago and i have been having an overheating problem ever since i got it. I have replace the water pump,radiator,and the thremostat as well and it still over heats when it is at idle. I would be greatful for some help thanks.

Welcome to All Ford Mustangs!!! Hope you enjoy the site!!! You want to go under 5.0 Tech for your Mustang. Try and look for Eagle Auto Sports that guy has been a huge help for me!!! Did you try replacing the fan and fan clutch? The police fan clutch is pretty good, I would go with an electric fan though. Also consider a coolant system flush, either at home or at a shop. If those don't work you might have a blown head gasket. Whats your oil look like?

HI WELCOME TO THE SITE, I HAVE A 88 TOO, I WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT I WENT TO ELECTRIC FAN, NOW IT SOLVE,

DO YOUR CAR IS STOCK?
WHAT KIND OF THERMOSTHAT ARE YOU USING? 180 DEGREE IS GOOD
DOES YOU FAN CLUCH WORKING GOOD?
MAY BE THE FAN IS TURNING WRONG WAY!
DO YOU CHANGE THE WATER PUMP FOR A STOCK ONE? BECAUSE SOME TIMES PEOPLE GET CONFUSE WITH WATER PUMPS, ONE TURN CLOCKWISE AND OTHER ONE THAT TURNS COUNTERWISE

Hiya, welcome to the site. Check out the 4.6 for the Lightning and the 5.0 for the Mustang. Yeah, I know the Lightning is a 5.4 but the info about the 4.6 can be carried over to the Lightning. There's lots of things it could be, do some exploring or post up a question.
