 New from Alberta,1986 Mustang
Hello all,
Just signed in today to get some infomation for my new 1986 Mustang LX I had brought. I will be picking it up in October as soon I sell my old beater away. For now I'm looking in to get some details about doing the transmission swap.
If this kind of topic had been discussed before - please point me to this link, thanks. Otherwise I'll give you the basics what I want do with my car...
The 1986 Mustang LX is a hatchback model with V6 auto, is a carbartor-style engine (all original), low 56,400 KMs, no rust underneath but does have light surface rust due to falling original paint (factory error I think). That's my first thing to do is re-paint there.
My second thing on list is to swap out the auto transmission for a manual 4-spd (if a 5-spd can apply - please tell me) and keep with V6 for driving around in the city for commuting to work. later in near future - maybe I'll do the 5.0 engine swap but for now the V6 is real good and smooth.
Anyone know what type of manual transmission in which years I need to look for to do the swap? Thanks for all your help! |
